    Javi´s S2 Project

    Hi all!

3 years ago, I bought an S2 3b with (theorical) 115000km, and I wasnt an expert, was a complete fail.

In the first few months, I had to change the EM(rs2 replica), turbo, lambda, Maf, radiators, alternator.....and the list continues.

Finally I got it on the road last year, because I studied for a year in France (alps), and was the perfect oportunity to enjoy the car in the mountains and also with snow! Was awesome! A year without visiting any garage

But now, things are going to change a bit, and its where my project begins:

Im doing a complete conversion to multicoil, for these im using:
-AAN Ecu, recieved today (thanks Gunto) S/N is 4A0907551D. It has immo, and thats a problem. Its also automatic, but I heard its not a problem. Both issues can be solved by chipping it.
-AAN harness, trying to adapt it (http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...t=53424&page=5)
    -Parts needed for the multicoil...
    -AAN inlet manifold
    -AAN fuel rail
    -AAN water manifold
    -2.0 radiator and crossmember
    -v6 PSP + AAN bracket
    -Ebay IC(not buyed yet)

    Also, talking about brakes:
    -Vacuum conversion
    -HP2 A8 D2 calipers + custom brakets
    -MB 345x32 brakes

    Interior:
-Complete renew of the dash wiring (as its a complete mess)
-Modern climate control conversion, waiting to be installed.
    -Carpet

    ...

So I have a lot of work to do, Ill post my advances!

    Thanks guys!

Yes, but only at first to make sure everything is working perfectly. Then I could measure the improvements of putting all this things in the car.

Stock until everything is working, then, maybe I´ll jump directly to something interesting

        A bit progress:

-AAN Ecu has sockets, but has stock map and also stock chips. It is an 4A0907551D ecu, so should have immo, and made for autobox.

-Wiring harness its done, hope with no errors.

How can I skip immo without changing chips?? I understand that this info shouldnt be public.........

Why do you think it has immo?
No 551D is socketed from factory, so I am pretty sure someone has been in there before.

Do you have any codes? Try to start it...

Or you can send me the ECU and I can remove immo and chip it... but check if it starts first.

Ill try the Ecu in Santis2 Aby´s car, and see what happends.

I have to work hard to make it able to start.... but the wiring, that is the hardest part, its done!

This weekend I will clean the bay, and also start changing the IM and also make space for the new IC

Pretty sure those are not factory sockets.
Factory used AUGAT sockets, which are rectangular shape.
                  Your sockets are different.

Also, they look hand soldered to me, just flux is cleaned up.
Too tired to look through software numbers, but if those are 551D chips, you will need to get them changed anyway...
Unless you enjoy 6600 rpm rev limit.

If the chips are 551D then it does.

I dont know if someone can rewrite them, and overwrite them.......but the chips are the same serial number as the S6 AAN.

Anyway, tomorrow I will try it in a car without immo, and see what happends!

Btw, I socketed an ECU yesterday and remembered your post.
Here is a pic from my work, the board is not cleaned yet in that pic, so you can see some flux residue and some dirt, I also did not use lead-free, so the joints are shinier than in your pic (where lead-free solder was used):

And I just used a desoldering pump and a soldering station.
Someone with proper reflow equipment could do an even better job

                          P.S.
The black lines were in the ECU already - it is a exchange ECU from 2001, "Made in Spain"

                            Progresssss

Just take out of the car the IM and water manifold, injectors, ps pump, radiator.....So engine bay is now ready to work on it.

                            To do list:
                            -Install harness
                            -new thermostat
-Install AAN IM, water manifold, injectors...
                            -Change rocker cover

And thats my main doubt: Should I buy a AAN/ABY one or a 7A one?? Is it a problem for the PCV hoses? Do I have to fit a catch tank??

Im a bit lost in this part....

                            Cheers!

                              Few months later.........some progress made:

-I bought a pair of stock AAN chips, usefull to skip immo
                              -AAN harness adapted and installed
                              -Vacuum conversion in progress...everything´s out.
                              -Dash harness fixed
-Climatronic conversion done, waiting to be installed.
                              -New Thermostat

Trying to clean the interior, I found some rust on the passenger floor. I think thats why the carpet was so crappy.

As Ive spent 5 months searching for a 3B carpet without success, im thinking about clean it and leave it without it, or a DIY one.....

Im have to change also the steering belows, as it was broken.

                              Pictures after this boring story
