just bought s2 parts/advice needed pls

hello after listening to the frank advise from last post i walked away from the s2 i was veiwing only to be asked what i would pay for it so i have picked it up for a song.It has zero grot light stone chips to bonet and small dent under of/s/r light but all pannels are original.

to the problems i will be needing a new of/s/r drive shaft n/s/r caliper seized and a few perrished hoses it has fantastic low end as turbo spools too early is dumping at 2500 rpm and boost tails off at 4700 so some idear as to the cause would be ideal as i said some perrished hoses and also and exposed nipple on the external waste gate pos for boost controller pics will follow to help you help me if willing. your comments last time were apreciated so on the money blunt advice is always welcome.

The external nipple on the wastegate should be disconnected. BTDT when I first bought mine. I'm sure others will reply soon with more technical advice soon. Good luck with the new purchase!

what car is it? Coupe, avant? 3B or ABY?
Caliper probably has the handbrake lever seized on it. You can normally free them up, but they are on borrowed time. You can rebuild but they are not expensive to replace.
      Whats up with the driveshaft?

it is a j plate 3b coupe there is a lot of play in cv joint not sure if recon kit avaliable or need to replace has been chipped but not sure by who just know there is a stock chip in a box that came with the car. was built by a co owner of power speed exhaust/roll cages who assured me it was an animal but since then 6 years have past and only 7k miles put on it. has sat for a long time turbo has been replaced for exchange recon so is now a stock turbo on the wrong map, i assume along with the perished pipes. but i am a admirer of tuning and rather than dip my toe have gone head first into deep end. need shell and drive chain up to spec over next year then either another engine to build over the next few years or bolt on blower till i need to touch internals not sure up to my missis unfortunatley

I really need to stop commenting on this thread, but anyway here goes, my thoughts would be that the car may have been cheap to purchase, but I’m pretty sure it will end up being a lot dearer in the medium to long term if you are to get it to a chipped ABY standard.

Not quite the right analogy, but hopefully you get the idea. A normally £150.00 jumper in a sale for £15.00 is only a bargain if you need a jumper, if you don’t need a jumper it's a waste of £15.00.

As someone else says of themselves, I‘ve been wrong before and I’ll be wrong again, but really in this instance I’m just giving in my own tuppence, based on all I gleaned from how others have faired on this forum with different cars over the years and my own personal experiences / sometimes disasters with cars over thirty four years of buying, fixing and driving cars.

              Best wishes.

"It was a monster a few years ago, but the hoses are perished and it ate it's turbo so it's back on a standard one" - That says "money pit" to me

oh i will delay crying into my pint just yet. i fully accept everything said i was just of the opinion when buying a 21 year old car as a project i would always have to choose between a good shell or a good engine i know this engine has been beasted quite often.

if you knew me you would understand i spend my life going against the grain hence me having an audi and friends driving rx7,nsx,s200,type r civic but am now going to bed and gonna have to deal with the result of my choice. I do hope i can pull it out the bag. Or just give you guys someone to sell your parts to till i live in a box and survive on special brew.

                      , on both counts

Try and sort all the boost leaks first, check fault codes and take it from there.

I have to agree with the above couple of comments. Personally, working on and improving a car is where i get my kicks, as much as driving and enjoying it
I have a (2.3E based) CQ that would otherwise be worth a couple of hundred quid and ive probably spend close to £10k on it! Some may see that as stupid? But its my hobby and i enjoy it (most of the time) and i breaks the mould in some areas.
I know that when im finished with it i will eiher have to sell it at a massive loss or break it for parts and recover a bit more of my money, but it doesnt bother me....
If its your bag mate, then get on it! Im sure you can chuck a couple of quid at it and turn it into a beast!!
BTW, this thread needs pics!!! and
