change a 2 wheel drive coupe to 4 wheel drive

i decided against the 7a spares or repair 20v...

so now i have the opportunity of buying a 20v 7a 1990 coupe ...

but its a 2wheel drive....

is it a big job to change. to a quattro?

there are enough quattro being broken so parts shouldent be that difficult to find...
any clues as to what exactly i would need..

its a major job; but it can be done.... its the same part in 81 and 85 and 89... and you ether need the bottom of a q-car or you may bye the 5 chassi peaces to atach the rear end with diff and brakes in the rear....

Enough 3B S2's about your better off buying one of them. you have to weld in the tranmission tunnel etc not mean feat

tunnel is practically the same on the cq. Its the boot floor and subframe pickups you'd need to alter, the boot floor being the big job.
As Jamo says just buy a 3B and spend the money making it right. My 2c

swap

so if i had access to a complete doner coupe quattro, running gear ? same year and model. would it not just be a swap the rear sub frame suspension and brake unit etc
but what would the link to the front entail... and the diff lock mech controll..would that be already in the loom just hook up ? i might sound simplistic.. its been a while since i fettled. the 2 wheel drive is a nice car....... but .

its already a monster job.... boot floors sub frame pick ups..etc... so ill sack that idea then... thanks guys.... i will have a 20v quattro again..... somehow !!!

the ur days are sadly out of my league now.... bloody kids.!!! so a sedate 2nd er 3rd sorry .... an s2 would defo put a smile on my boat... but ... i would never be satisfied... i was bitten before by the ur's ... many many thousands later...
but i was single.and rich !!

no i have to accept defeat.... so a 7a quatty will do... i still need the grrr.dont ya know ?

CQ has the sound for sure, but you will want more power, plus they are very hard to find in good order now and you have the same work to do in terms of getting the running gear up to scratch. I'd get an S2 if i was you. BTDT
