so after all my issues of puting car back together new clutch starter motor cam belt and gubins.

only for the the starter to spin up and the crank not turn. i have finally been able to get my unit half painted and have pulled the engine out again to find the ring gear not cracked just has slipped of the flywheel.

so can some one please post a picture of a 3b fly wheel, as there is a recess two teeth wide on the back of the starter motor ring gear and due to the two censors for the timing pin and i assume the recess in the ring gear. i need to press this back on in the right place.

cheers also due to my inexperience i pulled the flywheel of without marking up so i need the alignment for timing pin and tdc to put back on

think you can only put the flywheel on one way

Flywheel defo only fits in one position I just done mine and the holes are very slightly offset, very clever stuff from ze Germans

cheers guys just have to solve the alignment of the starter motor ring gear is there anywhere i can get info as i need to know if the recess on the ring gear itself is picked up by the censor.

as i am hoping to bake ring gear in the oven and put flywheel in freezer i have a metal cylinder the same dia as the ring gear and shall press it back together.
