    Audi 90 2.3 E auto?

In the process of buying one of the above. 1991 model with 10v motor, ABS, dual raditor etc. Funny thing it is badged front and back as Quattro. Being automatic it is not a Quattro, however.

No problem to me as I am hoping the S2 running gear will fit without too much work. What are the chances that the rear subframe mounting points exist on this car, as the Quattro version of this car came out with a 5 speed manual.

Thanks for any help on the subject.
    Regards

I hope the same thing applies to the B3 platform, but looks like I will have to wait till I get car and see for myself.

the B3 will need the pick-ups for the rear subframe welding in. also the rear cross member and boot floor is different to account for the diff and exhaust over the rear axle. I'm sure it will be possible but not as easy I don't think unfortunately

That's a pity. I know how much trouble I had stuffing an A8 subframe in the back of an S2. Really do not feel like doing another big job like it.

Can not wait for car to arrive. And for the feed back.. appreciated.

Well the car has arrived. Some Pics

Bought the car with the knowledge that the engine is smoking. Checked plugs and plug leads and 3 and 4 were wet. and not firing. Changed plugs and leads and boy does she smoke.

Whipped off the head and found 5 brand new std size pistons, new head gasket, zero milage on cyl 3 and 4. I am pretty sure one head bolt was not torqued down at all. Head gasket does not look blown but traces of oil on the head gasket between 3 & 4. Head looks good and has been recently skimmed. There is a deep scratch on cyl no 4 but can not see this accounting for the amount of oil in 3 & 4.

Bores were not properly honed before fitting new pistons. Looks like a botched job in more ways than one. Valve guides are suspect. Do not feel like wasting money on this engine.

Good news it has been converted to EFI

Seats are in a bad condition.

Teat fitted seats from the A8 which are very comfy, but very heavy. Looks good.

CV Boots are all broken and CV's is a sad state. so they will have to be replaced together with the shocks, front brake pads, ball joints and tie rod ends etc.

Now my idea to convert the car to a Quattro does not look possible unless I find a donor vehicle, as the car has no rear chassis from what I can see. Everything from the front of the wheel arch ( Where the beam axle is mounted )( With disc brakes) back, is single skin and very thin at that.

Petrol tank in mounted vertically behind the seats so thats one bit of good news.

So it looks like the Quattro conversion is out and I will have to live with a 7A 20V conversion and a 5 spd manual. We get 7A motors imported from the Far East, but none in the country at this time.

Any suggestions pointers greatly appreciated. Enjoyed Dans Audi 90 2.3E thread. until he started with the ICE stuff. Too old for that.
