removable front end on UR Quattro help/ advice PLS

    Hi Guys,

I`m needing some advice on the procedure to make the front end on my Type 81/85 Coupe removable to make fitting the engine easier.

I`ve seen it done on a few projects.
Seems to make so much sense and make things easier to get to.

any advice and pics would be greatly appreciated.

    Andrew

Makes life very much easier when it comes to removing the engine or doing work such as cam belt etc.

I cut the top slam tray (see Pic below) in line with center of the chassis leg.

Drill holes on the spot welds, where the front is attached to the chassis legs and replace these with 6mm bolts. Weld tags to the remains of the slam tray so that if fits under the removed center section of the slam tray and drill three holes each side and attached with 8mm bolts.

Here Is a pic of the front removed.
      Regards

Or you can do something similar to how the sport quattro front end mounts on.

            Thanks Brian,

You need a SQ bumper and SQ grill for the SQ crossmember to fit. It will not fit with a OEM UrQ front

I would like to have something like that as well for the UrQ. A removable cross-member
