My First Audi 91" Coupe 2.3e

    Evening all,

After a round trip of around 5 hours, I am proud to say that I am now the proud owner of my first Audi ! ... She's a 1991 Coupe 2.3e 10v NG non quattro in what im assuming is Panther black (non metallic), she's done 235,000 miles and runs sweet and smooth. It has no tax or test and iv'e bought her as a mini project to get her back on the road. There is a little bit of work that needs doing (a bloody good clean), needs a good service fluids wise, got an oil warning light on but all pressure, temperature and level are all good so maybe a sensor or sender ? Cosmetically it isnt too bad, no major rust or dents, theres a scrape on the offside rear of the bumper and a few age related scrathces. She's letting a bit of water in both driver and passenger footwells so that needs to be looked into and there is a petrol leak on the pipes as they join the fuel filter underneath to the rear of the car, the ignition barrel has some sort of fault so she only starts via the actual ignition switch but needs the key in the barrel for the steering lock. Didnt have much service history, only that the break pads and radiator were changed early last year/late 2010. Im planning to spend a bit of time on her and bring her back as much as possible and I'm looking forward to sharing my progress with all of you guys on here. I'll post a few pictures just to show you guys what im playing with
    Sam

its not on the bootlid, look under the boot carpet most likely underneath the oil bottle holder/pocket (plastic thing) on right hand side on white label.

LY9B it is, which is the only solid black available in these cars. AFAIK Audi still use it in current models.

Brilliant Black is unusual because it is one of the only true black car colours. If you get any paint mixed you will find it only contains black pigment (often blacks have a shade of blue or green in them)
Well that's what the guy who last mixed paint for me said, and it seemed to match well when i painted my bumper.

The first thing I do to every car I buy is get a pair of new number plates from a dealership. Cleans them right up

Right people... had a slight break in the weather, so thought id have a clay bar and cut on the bonnet to see how much crud I could get out ... although the "before" pictures dont look nearly as bad as it does in the flesh. To be fair it needs a decent compund and a mop on it to get a decent result but none the less I had a go.

                        Both of these are after:

On an unrelated note, on both door frames im assuming there is a bit of rubber trim missing, ive taken some pictures of mine, and some to compare against my dads B4 coupe, is this normal on the earlier B3's or is there a rubber seal/trim missing .. as it appears to be just fabric ... its easier to explain with the pictures .. so any help is appreciated

                        Mine:

                        My Dads:

as you can see mine seems to just be fabric, which im assuming is letting water in both sides, however my dad's isnt ?

                        any input appreciated
                        thanks

                            Evening all
Been out playing with odds and sods since I got home from work, Ignition barrel is drilled and removed, a lot easier than I thought. Found a replacement one eBay, brand new with matching part number. I'm assuming a spring inside the barrel has broken as it is not returning the key back to its correct position. Ignition switch was still functioning but is a bit mangled as it has been used to start the car for a while :wall: So I have also found a brand new replacement on eBay, with a matching part number. All ordered up and on there way . The removal of the front bumper and headlamps confirmed that both headlamps are cracked, and the fixing brackets are snapped clean off. So I am on the lookout for both drivers side and passenger side headlamps if anyone has any laying around . Hopefully at the weekend i will be dropping the oil out, cleaning the strainer, replacing the sump gasket and renewing the oil and filter with a can of Whynss Super Charger thrown in. If I get round to it then the fuel filter will also be fitted. Not that anyone is particularly interested, but I will throw a couple of photo's up just to show my progress

                            Thanks for all the help

                              Also,
Came out thismorning and there was two massive puddles, one in either footwell. Along with these puddles there was water sitting around the gear stick tray/tunnel, obviously water cant climb so It looks like I am getting water dropping down from the windscreen seal. After removing the front seats I gave them a quick scrub down to see how much grime I could remove (i say me, i mean the girlfriend ) they came up pretty good so I figured there was no point leaving the rear bench and rests all grubby. Removed them and all the rear boot carpets/trims ...and to my dispair both rear Lamps and leaking :wall:. Both of them out, all the glue/sealant was perished and half was missing, so ... scraped it all off, lamps and car. Sillicone to the rescue ! all is re-attached and water tight . Hopefully if the weather is good tomorrow im going to sit inside and get the old man to spray a hose pipe in a few specific places, and hopefully get an idea exacty where the water is coming in the front. Im fairly sure that both door seals are f***ed so I still need them. All photo's below are just random snaps of the process so sorry if they dont make much sense .. As you can see from 1 or 2 of the pictures the underlay was completely beyond slavage so if anyone knows a decent pace to get any then give me a heads up !

                              Thanks guys hope you enjoy

A few shots once the carpet was up:

Once they underlay was out and I had returned thismorning after last nights rain:

A couple of us removing the back end carpets and lights etc:

And her's some of how she looked when I packed up :
