      Question about front crank balancer.

On my 3b it had fitted - 034 105 251 C, this part shows up through google as a 7A unit!

      Copied from Quattroworld!

As for the ABY and ADU, they share a 034105251M vibration damper and the 054105255E multi-vee pulley. The 3B has a combined Item 3 damper and single v-belt pulley (no separate Item 3A), PN 034105251G. The NM and 7A use a similar but somehow different combined damper and single v-belt pulley, PN 034105251C.

Google and Quattro world both say my damper is a 7a unit!

Can anyone else on here confirm that there 3b had 034 105 251C pulley fitted without a washer!

After getting all confused over this loose bolt and now a 7a pulley?

As you can imagine I want to be sure of refitting the belt correctly!!

If it is a damper from a 7A, it's not good for balancing right?

Thats a 3B pulley in the pics above, only real difference is the weight, 7A items are slightly heavier. Each damper/crank/flywheel are balanced as a set (hence the drill holes in the face), so a damper from another engine wont be 100% for your engine.

Washer is only found on the aby/adu pulleys, 3B/7A dont have them.

Remember ALWAYS replace that crank pulley, the keyway looks like its starting to fail in your above pic, not worth the risk for all the cost of them. And always lock the damper when torquing, your tool should do just fine.

Thanks for the input! It does appear to me from web search that it was fitted as a replacement going by numbers!

But if so I might explain a rather LARGE invoice from a well known UK company, I was wondering was the bottom end reconditioned and possibly balanced with this pulley

The fact the paper 3b gasket is replaced with the MLS item also makes me think as I have invoices from everywhere and for everything but the head gasket, and a blank invoice for several thousand from said company?

On topic lol, I will fit new crank bolt and toothed pulley as part of the belt change, and I am now at ease about the washer .. Cheers

            Bit of painting

            Bit of adding to list

            Bit of spending

Bit of a present when I fit all that lot and get it boost tested!

Poor update really but it's still moving along slowly all the while

Small update, we'll looking for info really!

              Fitted new belt,pump,idler,bolts ect ect

What torque for cam pulley bolt ?

Also just to verify with the crank bolt, have it set to 200nm and I need a further 180 degrees ?

              Cheers

Camshaft bolt is 65 Nm (48 lb-ft) for AAN, cannot imagine 3B would be much different.

                And 200nm +180deg according to :
                Eric

Been forever since i last updated this thread, funds and will power kinda killed it for me but ive been busy the last month or so and got a lot done.
                    KW v1's fitted
                    polybushed the front
new drop links and powerflex ARB bushings
Car is now running Spinks chips, power unknown , its fast enough
                    new disks and pads allround
                    front balljoints replaced
intercooler cleaned, was black with oil from worn turbo
better condition turbo fitted, almost zero shaft play in any direction
                    ABY airbox
                    better maf
all belts changed including cambelt and waterpump
thinking of having injectors cleaned, ther is 150k on them as is so cant hurt
                    the list goes on ....
rear subframe is a big one come NCT time
went for good blast in her today and i can now understand why ye all fit huge brake
squirming all over the road under braking, need alignment bad
none the less all back together and purring nicely
