    1990 Cq

    hey guys,

So with winter coming up i need to figure out what i am going to do to my coupe. Right now it is a 3b with a k24/26 turbo, rs2 intake manifold, 034 replica injectors, and a 2bennett rs2 chipped ECU. Everything else is stock.

I was wondering what you guys think i should do to make it more fun, and be able to take on my friends STI. (cause we all know rings are better than stars)

Im new to upgrading cars so any help would be great.

How's your suspension, brakes and clutch?

A solid short shifter would be a big help too.

I think some people round here use a sachs clutch kit but I think an rs2 clutch would be oki for your setup.

              Two things:

              1. If you haven't already, you should upgrade the OE 3B exhaust manifold to an RS2 exhaust manifold or the Wagner RS2 EVO cast EM.

              2. Your "cold air" intake filter is 6 inches (15 cm) or so from the hot side of the turbo and even less from the downpipe. You are losing performance potential. Suggest minium of shielding between the two. Preferably you re-route AND shield the intake so it is really getting cold air, i.e. from the front of the car, not from the engine bay.

I'll go look at the efi site. I still have the stock exhaust manifold so I will look into one of the new ones. The intake is from the guy who owned it before me and now that you mention it, having it there doesn't make much sense. As far as the clutch goes, I was thinking about getting one that is set up for a bit more power so then when I do more engine work I don't have to buy another one, so I will look into Sachs. Thanks.

Any other ideas you guys can give is always welcomed.

Indeed change the air filter location, or get an ABY airbox for example and a RS2 EM would help no doubt. What IC are you using and what exhaust setup?

An RS2 clutch won't fit as you will be using a single mass flywheel I guess.

As for the brakes I think you can make Focus RS brakes works and keep the 4x108 setup, the Focus discs are 300 mm. from memory.

                  Cool car btw

the exhaust is a 2.5 inch stainless steel from the turbo back, its custom from the guy who owned it before me. He worked for the subaru rally team. He built the car for his wife and then they decided to move so they sold it.

Where could i find the focus rs brakes?

                          Cheapest would be used HP2.

Effective would be Porsche Cayenne 330 setup, can also find it quite cheap at breakers, but much more expensive than HP2.
