    Sad day today

During the heavy rain my RS2 was flood damaged, I had the car parked up and water got through the door seals and flooded the interia. The insurance has made it a cat B car is now a total loss. There was no major damage to car but wet carpets and seats was gutted but its out of my hands now.

Looks like they will let me keep it for parts so will get stripped for parts and I am thinking of fitting the engine into my 1994 S6. Will keep you updated as the new project develops.

That's a shame mate best of luck with the new project, shame the life of another rs2 has passed, but you should get a pretty penny for all parts sold on

I would query that as Cat B should have very heavy structural damage. If its just water then its a D really! C or D can be put back on the road, C needs a VIC check https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-identity-check/overview.

Im sure this is insurance companies and car manufacturers colluding to stimulate the new car market by removing easily repairable cars from the road. Cat B would likely be very heavy front end damage needing inner wings and maybe a bent a pillar/roof.

Def query ask for reasons why a B - take advice off the insurance ombudsman

They told me due to flood being inside the car the interia is contamtinated. I am happy to put the S6 back on the road with the RS2 anyway sounds crazy but I always prefered driving the S6. Dont think the RS2 would sell well after it has been given a CAT status. I will be easier to brake and sell the parts. Will make the other ones on the road a bit more rarer and valuble.

                  Sorry to hear this.

Would it not have been possible to sort without going through your insurance company? As said above it doesn't take much for them to write off old cars.

Fight the Category B and resurrect the car with parts from truly dead RS2s and/or S2s.

Putting the engine your UrS6 doesn't gain you much. An insitu AAN can be upgraded to RS2 standards with only external parts, no need to replace the AAN with an ADU.

Guess its up to the OP - personally id fight it, get it changed to C or D, take payout, buy back salvage and end up with a super, super cheap RS2. Get some good de-humidifiers, take carpet out - sorted!
