Worth saving as even with a cat c/d its still worth more than what you'd see breaking it
Sad day today

The S6 has been sitting for 2 years now took the head off for rebuild and never got it done due to divorce. My real love is with the S6 the RS2 was alot quicker but I enjoyed driving the S6 more.
Just lost the heart with the RS2 now had big plans to get it repainted this year. Maybe I can see about changing the CAT and sell it complete ofr someone who has the time. The damage inside is nothing just damp a few mold spores but would clean easy. The engine has had a good bit spent on it.
I am going out of the country next week for a holiday so will give me some time to relax and think whats best to do.Comment

Fight the B... Thats madness.
Infact, fight and CAT, ask them to give you the max they will for repair so you can repair with 2nd hand bits.
If you do decide to sell and its not a CAT, or at least not a B, let me know...Comment

Contamination is one thing but damage is another. I can understand that apart from the physical force of water most flood damage is down to sewage water from the drains getting above road level and into houses, cars etc. In the Lake District, we have seen a lot of itThey told me due to flood being inside the car the interia is contamtinated. I am happy to put the S6 back on the road with the RS2 anyway sounds crazy but I always prefered driving the S6. Dont think the RS2 would sell well after it has been given a CAT status. I will be easier to brake and sell the parts. Will make the other ones on the road a bit more rarer and valuble.
However, with a house, usually carpets, underlay and sometimes plaster and floorboards are replaced but the house is resurrected. The same goes for cars: take out the interior carpet and replace. You may get away with the seats but there are plenty around......just a suggestion.

Easy for me to say I know, from the comfort of my keyboard, but......
from the description, it doesn't sound catastrophic, not great admittedly, but not the end of the car.
Strip it out. Jack it up high at the front and wash it out carefully with a hosepipe, drain it with a pump at the same time. Dry it out in a spray booth oven.
Clean the carpets, replace the underlay.
As mentioned, check this site out.
Car will be worth more as it is an original RS2. An RS2 spec urS6 will be nothing special from a value point of view.
Have two B4 S2 Avants, and currently using my urS6 as my daily, and I definitely I know what you mean about the feel of the urS6. It's like a grown up S2.
Nice features on the urS6.
As a separate issue, an RS2'd urS6 as a daily is a great can do everything car. Regularly daydream about doing this and more to mine.
Have to be practical also though, if you do decide to brake it, I'll be first in the queue, for the roof lining, A, B, C, D pillars, the exhaust system, etc. etc...
Any photos ?
Enjoy the holiday and let the hare sit, do nothing until you're back a while. It should be clearer, more obvious then.
Insurance classification is worth fighting, but only a big issue if you're selling it, and even then not as bad as accident crash damage.
Best wishes.

I will see what I can do with the insurance company, I do think the car is not too bad the carpets are wet and the seat base feel damp. Never thought about the spray booth oven a friend of mine has his own body shop I am sure he can put it in there over the weekend, was planning on a full respray anyway.
Thanks for the posts I am starting to see light at the end of this tunnel.Comment
