I say go for it. I nearly bought an S2 in this colour a couple of years ago and the only thing that stopped me was the colour. The car was nearly perfect but it was the only orig S2 colour I could not live with in any way. Deffo a marmite type of subject. I didnt have the money for respray so carried on looking and ended up with Emerald Green, also not the best but I can live with it.

Looks like you are going to give the car love and attention which is the main thing. I would rather see a car get a colour change and some continued love rather than stay the same shade and be allowed to crumble.

Good luck with it all. I think a dark metallic grey similar to a certain S6 Avant Monster on here would look very good in coupe guise. Moody and understated but with bags of class. Suits these cars down to the ground.

I also would leave it as is - its a rare colour.
However if you must repaint it, then go for an original factory colour IMHO. Amethyst pearl is a lovely grey colour LZ4V look at Fatty's coupe

I guess I'm biased but Pearl Blue has always been my favourite

Personally i would keep it Tropical Green, unless you do a complete strip (engine out so you can do the bay) it will look strange.
If you are set on respraying it why not Duck Egg Blue

                    Marmite S2

Should have bought one in a colour you do like & left the one you have for somebody else to buy who does like that shade of green

Easier said then done specially when they don't come up very often and with the spec/mileage and condition I want them in.

I agree the green is horrid. - IMO imola yellow, just keep all the black bits black lower bumper/s door strips etc- im sure QC would make a top job of painting it, they are doing a project at the moment on a coupe, and detailed before/after pics and pics whilst painting, should make for easier selling/retaining future value- i.e interested parties would know car was pristine as you say prior to colour change.

                          id paint it.

do you plan to love it or sell it as original.

if the colours wrong for you its wrong.

gotta say im not a snot green fan either.

I seeing both sides here. A11TJU i totally see where you're coming from its a bit marmite...
My car is far from original, but yet its not as rare as yours and its worth less than the fluff in my pocket, so it doesnt matter....
But you dont like the colour and its you're car, so make it you're own! (not the guy's who ordered it from audi)

But do something different! Theres no point turning a rare audi into a common one...pick a different audi colour? Sprint Blue? or a porsche colour maybe? Im also a big blue fan (not the band i may add...) What about VW Mystic blue? i had a MK3 golf in that colour and it was probably my favourite colour of all cars ive owned. Royal blue in normal light but with a twist of plum in bright sunshine...

I can also see why people think you shouldn't spray it. Its a rare car, in a rarer colour, that most people would love to own....
Personally i could live with the tropical green... that fact its rare would make me love it... and it looks mint, i'd be washing it every sunday. The only thing i would do is spray the lower textured bits Tropical to match, coupes in light clouurs suit this IMHO.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do, and post lots of pics to show us the progress.

Bear in mind the absolute worst thing you could do right now is get part way through your project and give up! Just keep up momentum with it.....
