1993 Audi 90 gets a ABZ someday projekt

Hello forum. Gonna keep this short & sweet to start as I know sometimes threads can easily get off track. I am choosing S2forum as the venue in which to document and share the final incarnation of my decade-long B4 90q enhancement agenda. I am grateful for those who've blazed this trail ahead of me (and also documented it), as well as the handful of Experts and Speed-shops who have designed some of the very special pieces needed to make engine transplants less stressful.

    Cliff notes: I am putting a 1997 ABZ into a 1993 B4 90q.

I've already accomplished quite a bit of dismantle on the 90 before deciding to create a concurrent thread. But I've by no means got into the real exciting stuff, so these first few posts will be pretty sparse...move along, nothing to see here..yet!

In March I finally got the urge to yank the 2.8

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, a grimy engine bay

There was nothing especially wrong with the V6...it was a functional motor when I parked the car and only ever exhibited the typical 2.8L minor issues. The engine was donated to my friend Keegan because he'll use it to resurrect a 1996 Cabrio which had a timing belt mishap.

The weather in Edmonton during March and April (winter) is pretty cold and crappy so it doesn't really provide much motivation to work on things. But with warmer days did come more work. I rolled the car outside and gave the engine bay a real good scrub!

Then it was time to tackle all the wiring and interior.

I pulled out the dash, middle console, heater box and carpet. There are a couple systems that I do not want or don't plan to make functional with the V8, so I have set about pulling out those control modules and associated wiring. It must be stated that I am in no dire rush to complete this project. I will take my time and do things correctly as best I am able. I want the car to look as though Audi had put the engine in from the factory.

Recent weeks have seen me doing LOTS of wiring-related activities...primarily pulling out those systems as previously mentioned. I'm taking out ABS, Airbag, and A/C, plus likely the original stereo wiring. And I am adding a power seat wiring loom. The complete engine wiring harness has also come out

This is the 2.8L wiring. I labeled everything that went to a connection that wasn't the ECU, as well as other pieces I thought might be necessary to integrate with the A8 wiring (like speed signal). I will be going VEMS and then making a hybrid engine harness between what I don't need from the ABZ and what I do need from the AAH. Hopefully it goes as problem-free as I've imagined....NOT

That's prettymuch where I'm at. What I need to accomplish next is pulling the V8 and extracting its engine wiring loom. Then I can begin the arduous process of splicing them together and fitting it into the 90. If anyone needs specific information on either 90q or A8 wiring/system internals while I have all this crap apart let me know (email, PM, etc) and I'll try and get you some details.

          Welcome!!

Keep at it, you'll be glad with the final result, although nothing is ever final in this world....

If you need any help with anything ABZ related, give me a shout. I have the same engine in my coupe running standalone.

Theres another guy on here with the ABZ in a coupe, hes also running VEMS like you.

What about engine mounts? Custom made or are there any OEM that fits with V8 and B4 chassis?
