Power Upgrage - Logical Sequence ???

    Hi guys,

I want to get a bit "more" from my RS2, problem is I don't know how much "more", I am thinking 450bhp ?. I want the car to be a fast road car with reliability.

The car is putting out 335bhp on the dyno, don't think it has been modified. It has 213,000 mles, it runs clean, does not use oil.

Here is my plan to gradually upgrade it in this order, is this a sensible sequence that does not result in "unnecessary" mods......

    Stage 1
Miltek 3" complete system, including sport cat(s)
    Remap

    Stage 2
    Uprated injectors
    Uprated fuel pump
    New remap

    Stage 3
    Head Rebuild (porting ?)
    Uprated turbo (which one ?)
    Intercooler ?
    New Remap

    Stage 4
    Bottom end rebuild
    new rods
    Remap
    Etc Etc

Apologies if this has been set out before, but I am sure there has been a lot of "trial and error"...

    What do you think...

    Thanks

    PAUL

I would work backwards from your end target, 450-480 will result in a nice road car.

I wouldn't grow it up in stages as that's probably the most expensive way of doing it. Work out what you need for your target save/collect all the bits and get in done in one go...

    Hope it helps

    Darren.

Agreed - doing it in 4 stages is probably the worst strategy!

Aside from everything else, you'll need 4 remaps. That'll cost a fortune. Not really sure what the best option is for an RS2 remap right now.. I don't think MRC are interested in the older Audis anymore

I would go : injectors, fuel pump, Holset HX 35, tubular ex. manifold, 3'' exhaust ,wather/meth Aquamist hs3,and a proper remap by Prj.This is realistically the proper setup for 480 all day long ,for me at least.

Your best bang for the buck is a generic RS2 chip set from prj (Dmitri). Probably under 200 Euros. Probably around 370 crank hp. Not as much as you think you want but I am guessing more than you really need. And for the price.....

Tubular manifold wouldn't be on my list I'm afraid. Mine achieved 480 on an RS2 manifold.

Tubular manifold will noticeably decrease turbo lag, but won't really make that much more power.

Since you runing w/m and not go past 600nm don t see the point. I. Wouldn't open up a healthy rs2 original engine to go h beam rods for only 600nm.

You'd be a bit nuts to do it in 4 stages like that.

You can change the exhaust, intercooler, fuel-pump without getting it remapped. You'll get some difference but not optimised, however you'll save yourself tonnes of time, hassle and money waiting to get it remapped time and time again.

                    Personally i'd do:

                    Stage 1:

                    Exhaust
                    Fuel pump
                    Intercooler

                    Stage 2:
                    Engine rebuild (head / bottom-end + rods)
                    Injectors
                    Turbo
                    Remap

                      Wow. That defies logic IMO.

Forgot about dropping compression and yes that's logical in my opinion and not for others that' s normal we are all different.Did someone have even try to do this? No, from what I aware and again IN MY POINT OF VIEW it is doable.

at that sort of miles I wouldn't be pushing more power through it unless your planning to do a major refresh of the engine!

Personally get a nice exhaust and a decent remap push it to 360-370 and enjoy it stockish

                            Even a 700hp engine with a 600nm flat torque?

If I had a genuine rs2 I'd not play the Russian roulette testing if it'll hold or not.

Do rods, service the engine and the limit is the sky

370hp are the cheapest and what I'd do if 315 stock are bored

You can always have the turbo tuned safe until you want to build the engine.

I run chipped RS2 and while I always think I want more power, I don't really need it on the road. Track is different, you always want more power on track
