I agree alex I have to stop myself going too far. 20k for your coupe would be cheap.

We spent a couple of hours on this today. The old downpipe is off and turbo ready to be swapped. I need to get some new connecting exhaust pipes then its a case of bolting it all together with some new gaskets and hopefully she will obtain a new mot. I noticed the outer off side cv boot is split but thats a nice easy one. Then ill get a coat of dinitrol on it and its mot time.. i cant wait..

Not alot to report on this. I have been busy with lots of things at the moment. However I have found a couple of hours to fit the new turbo and bolt up the new downpipe. I have the driveshaft off to get the downpipe in so Im doing the CV at the same time. It looks as though she has a new home waiting once I pull my finger out....

We'll the car moved under own steam again today. I got her undersealed with 2 litres of dinitrol on an air line today too. What a mess I got into. Problems that remain are the suspension needs winding up as it's now stuck on the ramp.
Finally I had noticed a slight puddle from the oil cooler where one of the lines attaches. However I gave it a little tweak and realised it's leaking from the cooler itself where the line bolts up. I now have a nice steady trickle.
So I am on the hunt for a a good one, I'd consider ally welding it but I'm not sure it'll work. It's a shame cos it's in good nick and replaced in 2009. She's very nearly ready for the MOT.

why replace with an old cooler that will fail. Do the upgrade re2500 documents as its cheaper still and better results.

Yes VDT. (Sorry for using initials)

Yeah, best mate Steve got it to rescue and sell and I could not help myself. So sold my no 5 gti and hopefully will take delivery of this Wednesday if it passes mot. Was up with the car the other day while Steve was tied up at work so decided to help and wind the KW's up for him. Went for 2 inches of thread under the bottom nut. Should drive a tad better too
