We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links
Don't worry Roger. They are both machined to 14 now so everything correct.
Only problem left is figure the best way for the hand brake cable to go.
Can't wait to test it
The RS2 hand brake cables are too long so I'm crossing them under the rear diff to make it fit. Maybe not the best solution, but it works
Take care when testing the first time. Without a pressure regulator there are a lot of rear brake bias. If you got the big reds in front it will maybe be a little better. I've got the 322mm disks, but only the org. small RS2 calippers. I've found that light braking while turning a bit will make rear really loose. Have had a couple of rear end drifts at 150+ km/h. Luckily easy to handle, but make passengers a bit nervous
Test at a safe place
I will test safely also because FARB will not arrive in 1 month so only Whiteline RARB
I do have big reds up front.
Cheers.
Mine was loose even without rear ARB so take care.....
Don't use Nurburgring as first test track
PS! The biggest gain in braking performance I've found with this rear setup is on slippery ice(without rally studs) Now the rears brakes as much as the front. Before rear brakes did nothing when using the soft brake touch that you have to on wet ice.
Have small problem that you can answer me.
Am I suppose to use those two metal pieces when mounting everything? (see picture)
Cheers
I think they are some sort of dust/ABS-sensor protection. I ruined mine when I took them out and haven’t tried to replace them. If they foul the CV joint just remove them
Project is finished after unexpected problems.
Clearences in my car were tenths of milimiter worst than Roger's so my wishbones was rubbing the inside of the disk a bit. Some machining need it to be done.
I suspect if using second hand disks (slimmer) there will not be any problem.
In the picture you can see how it has been machined.
At the end is working find but have not full brake waiting for them to adapt correctly as pads and disks are new.
Nice to see it all finished Wish all my parts(struts, calippers & wheels) had such a nice finish. Looks great
Didn't exactly go as smooth as planned/I said it would, but hopefully all problems will be forgotten the first time at a track day Custom parts are ..... well custom.
The worst after all was the delay in the mail. That scared me , but package, thank god, got there in the end....
One question though - when you mackine the rear uprights you end up with very little thickness on the outer lip. Pressing on a steel ring only solves part of the problem. Any concerns that it might break? I mean, the outer lip is there for a reason.
