Needed to open up the rear wheel arches 4″ to fit tires. No big deal. Test fitting the Goodyear 32×14 on a 14 to see how they fit as ultimately I will build towards the future.

This thing is going to be rather low after all haha. I hand made all the pieces to do this, and used factory sheetmetal for the area around the body trim.

this is the 32x14 i will eventually run, mine are the 315/60-15 aka 30x3.50's to start out with.

formed this piece by hand for the gap filler.

also put the new motor in the AWD chassis, and put it on the dyno to break it in. turned the boost down ~10 psi (from >47 psi back to 38) and made right at the same power as before, almost 760 awhp and a little more torque at right at 570 ft lbs.

i just had shoulder surgery so i cant drive, but i have a buddy who will drive for me this sunday. my son is hyped about the car as well.

Maan that thing looks bonkers on those upscale drag tyres - so incongruous for the old Coupe body shape - its a mad project (and wicked fast).

and now i will go back down saturday to do more work on this thing. spent a few days of my vacation last week getting all of the prep work for the show/race.

the awd car blew the top off the rear diff on the first launch. kinda sad because i built a new motor just for that show and race. only time the car was going to run this year even.

he did good, kept it off the wall. we got this one single launch and that is ALL for the entire year. bummer, too, cuz we also missed out on 8 pure silver dollars and a few hundo in cash along with trophys and crown. next time.

those are my learning to drive this thing tires. it will most likely be street registered and streetable, and these are DOT drag radials.

another thing not readily visible. opened the wheel arches up 4 inches obviously, moving the axle centerline forward 2 inches. but what you cant see is that the front wheels are 4 inches forward of factory position. we will be stretching the whole front that 4" moving the arches forward but keeping the position of them on the fenders (wings) by adding to the rear edge of the fenders. this will be some tricky work.

this size tire is most likely what will end up on it and yeah it looks pretty crazy with such a big tire on it for sure.

Thats the big mad tyres I was referring to - quite incredible looking combination. Love all the fabrication pics on these kind of projects. Great work.

here where i live that is pretty easy. they will never even see the car. no emissions in my area.

i put lights on it (rears are mandatory for racing) and wire in a simple switch for turns. register and pate it, insure it and viola i can drive it on the street. not that i will (much if at all).

but if i want to take it somewhere like a Cars n Coffee (morning meets on weekends) or other get togethers, i will tow it there and park off a few blocks and run it over there. simple and fun.
