damn, what a project! I've never seen this done with the steering column by the way. Can I ask a stupid question.. what are the benefits of doing this?
Hi from Kajaani by the way..

Not sure about the benefits but.... original pump does not fit with dahlback intake manifold. So I had to do something. I had two options electric pump or electric steering column. Both are cheaper (50-100£) than any component to original system. These are also more fuel economical if somebody cares. Downside with electric steering column can be self center. But with the caster mod I have i do not believe it will be that bad. Btw new Audi b8 with "audi drive select" does not self center either.

This conversion is not that common in Audis but like in Finnish rally stages many have it in old Escorts, Starlets etc. There is a topic about the mod http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69047 bushing I´m going to make between opel and Audi columns is a simple "ice hockey puck" with hole in the centre. That is how I get the pieces as close together as possible and I do not have issues with the relays. Time will show how the "Map shelf" will fit under steering column and there does the module fit.

Interested to see how this goes. I'm thinking about putting a corsa style unit in my 90, mainly for packaging and to remove weight from the nose.

Electric power steering column is taking more time than expected. I decided to buy Corsa B steering column as it is much shorter. Problem with the Corsa C column was that it is so long that I can´t get any collapsible part to steering column or shaft. Corsa D would also be interesting but I could not find any controller for that. Also found another Nissan 200SX rear diff pump and cooler from Ebay.co.uk which will go for gearbox. Newer model centre differential is also on the way from Romania (or should be). Not sure what kind of daily driver this will be.

Lots of travelling and family fun lately but finally I found good combination to Finish Corsa B power steering. It uses Corsa B (RHD) Power steering column with Zafira universal joint or steering shaft. Zafira have same size splines as in the steering rack and double D on the top end like Corsa B. Both needs a bit filing as the Double D end is slighly smaller than original Corsa B. Audi steering rack does not have splines all around the shaft so few splines need to be taken off. Between Corsa B and Audi column is small steel bushing welded to original carrier plate to help alingement. Zafira steering shaft is fully extended in this setud so now I have some crash safety as well. Corsa C column fits a bit better with original relay holder but it can be sorted out propably

I was thinking to put Astra pump for long time. I understood it does not run full speed all the time like citroen/peugeot/MR2. Therefore I believe it have a small lag when starting to turn steering wheel before pump speeds up. I will not modify the steering rack before I have tested this. So I will leave option to use electric pump If I do not like the electric steering column.

Time goes fast and not much done for poor Coupe. I was not quite happy with the electric powesteering column so I decided to leave it. I´ll probably put Mercedes A or similar electric driven power steering pump later. While putting back everything fitted Coolerworx shifter. Shifter is realy nice and small mahining on bottom piece it came OK. Bse needs to be done if using OEM setup. Original shifter leather boot works as it is no mods needed. Differential pumps painted lots of bolt bought. Changed shifter linkage bearing to imperial sized as was not able to make thin enough shim for the metric bearing. imoerial sized fits nicely after little sanding on shifter linkage. Next its time to fit differential cooler (not sure where) and bolt subframes together. Also bought Esab caddu 2100AC/DC tig and EMCO lathe/mill so lots of possibilities in future.
