    Ford Sierra Sapphire 4x4........ 2.2 20vT

Well, I guess I had better start this off here with proper enthusiasts!
Now I know you lot are not all Audi 100% through and through, although we do love all 4 rings (that's what she said lol!)

I promised a month ago I would start this thread and post pics of my very very rare (12 registered with DVLA) 2.0 4x4 Sierra Sapphire.

And no, it isn't a Cosworth!

Ive had more of my fare share of Cosworths, and genuinely, had several magazine featured cars with £30k+ builds, but one of my most memorable ones was in 2001 ish I built a 2.1 10v Turbo rwd sierra Sapphire, I loved the noise of the 5 pot so much I bought a 200 Turbo and 7 pallets of spare parts!!

I also love the Ford Sierra Sapphire so much I bought a peasant spec 1.6L, put it on 4x4 Sharktooth Cosworth wheels and coilovers which was lovelly, but it had no ********.

Sooooooooooooooooo.............. I had my MENTAL 2WD 520bhp Saff Cosworth, an Audi 200 Turbo, LOADS of URQ/200T engines and parts, and a very sexy Sapphire 1.6L, you can see what happened....... surely?!

Basically the Audi engine was forced to live between the Sapphires ample (chassis) legs
mounts were simply fabbed up and bolted to the block of the MR?! WR?! engine.

Everything was mated together in a lovelly fassion and boosty RWD goodness ensued, aaaaaand then I stripped the car and sold everything. And scrapped the shell........ (what a ****!)

Many years and project cars later, as I'm sure you all know very well

so I am doing thongs PROPPERLY this time with the 2.0 twincam (8v) Sapphire 4x4 and making it 20vT powered!

My Favourie car and favourite engine choices.

    Pics to follow tomorrow

Car has not seen the road for 7 years so will get a BIG cuddle first, on the road in febuary/march, then the drivetrain will be jig built and then bolted up to the chassis accordingly

If anyone in Norfolk/Essex has any FREE or cheap 20V engine blocks or sumps please get in touch

Interesting project, 66:34 rear split should improve things! How does the front diff fit in with the I5?

Trying to sort a new photobucket account as I type........

Rusty, front diff is mounted on/in the engine sump so a hybrid will be made from the 2 units
bolts up to the o/s and fed via external propshaft from the transfer box, then fed to the front wheels from the diff via o/s driveshaft,
and n/s goes through the engine sump via an intermediate shaft to an external n/s driveshaft that is equal length to the o/s if I'm not mistaken,
sure this is so torque is matched from both sides.

IF for some reason it isn't possible I will use Skyline GTR stuff that use the same principals, are a lot shallower in height but cost ££££ more, and I already have the Ford stuff in my Sapphire!

And there is an Escort Cosworth with an audi 5 pot 20vT and GTR running gear about at the minute and I gont want to copy it

Right, don't forget its a standard 4x4 sierra sapphire, not a cosworth (I have LOADS of pics of my big horsepower 500+ mag featured ones, just ask lol )

Not seen light of day for 7 years, just a quick rinse, Wrong wheels fitted and shonkey oval side repeaters, oh and a red boot lid!

Koni Adjustables should be painted over the next few weeks,
New Ahmed Bayjoo springs I will have painted dark blue,
rear axle out, underside bare metal prepped, 3M undersealed and whole lot painted Anthracite, Brake and fuel lines all renewed as surface corroded and receiving NEW Cosworth External fuel pump/044 setup in preperarion for new engine eventually!
rear axle etc will stull utilise the original 4x4 7inch LSD diff with new fluids, painted diff, refurbished driveshafts as boots have perished, and new rear wheel bearings, vented 4x4 discs and calipers etc and longer wheel studs to accept gpA fitment wheels.
Suspension will all be poly bushed throughout and alloy diff mount fitted to help reduce geometry obscurity under hard launching from the mighty 2.0 8v engine

Front will be cleaned, polybushed and undersealed as the rear, but no upgrades as the new 2.2 20vT setup will be bolted up on the standard ford pickups etc, just lots of cleaning and rust prevention for now.

I will be using the car for about a year in 2.0 8v twincam 4x4 "modified" setup but will concentrate on the body first,
It isn't rusty, just the laquer has all lifted, dents here and there from being used as a table for 7 years in someones garage.
I plan to wrap the car in either white, satin dark grey, or a sublte candy apple red not too similar from the original colour, or a dark, deep metallic blue.
Wheels will be Compomotive MO5 flat faced or TH design, 16 or 17", with Cosworth Bumpers on quick release mounts as I am using and have ordered fiberglass items, so the do not sag like the origionals, sideskirts, same principal.

My last Sapphire Cosworth (ive owned 5 non cosworth sapphires since then lol)

Will look very similar I am hoping, wheels wise and maby colour, although white or candy red might float my boat, more pics tomorrow!

Also to browse a very very small selection of my old cars, photobucket and search cossiekid have a browse, mostly Cosworth or VAG stuff

                      Cool project
I seem to remember seeing an XR4i with GTR running gear a while back. It's pricey stuff but ultimately the best setup I think.

                          Evening Gents,
Dubmanted........... I have always wanted one from a very very young age and when I was 18 I decided I wasn't going to have a micra/saxo with free insurance, for the same money I could buy a Cosworth AND insure it! So I did 1998 was where it all started for me.

Your mates one looks tidy man, awesome car!
PEople don't realise how these things on green injectors or 400bhp actually go, when they are on boost the noise, the smell, and the feeling of pure torque is phenominal from a little 2.0 4 pot, it really is
Cracking thing your pal has bought, if he wants any help etc just ask, there is nothing I haven't done to these well, except drive a standard one for more than a month

                          SE_30
I'm from Newcastle origionally, moved to Essex in 2008 so a Geordie at heart!
Everyone knows me as Cossie Sean and yes I know Wenny, I knew the car from day 1!
Way back in 2001 I was running an RS2 external wastegate, RS200 Turbo, High compression big cammed 450bhp@wheels 2wd sapphire that looked like a standard car, even down to the wheels and backbox!
Most people know me from that and my other builds, I will upload a couple of pictures from the magazine shoot

Ask about Cossie Sean and the first question is always, "what is he building now? "
I have a genuine addiction to this, love it!
