This is a very nice car !
How many did they build and did they only make lhd? And who built them some "special division" or 8)?

no idea how many were built, but given the hefty pricetag not much I guess.
They were built by Abt, you could also take your car there to be modified, that's what the first owner did the same day he got the keys (probably to save on tax)
attached some pages from a brochure (judging from the text it was printed before the S2 was introduced)

I had collected some parts over the years to enhance performance:
Wagner reverse IM, Wagner IC & x-member, imitation RS2 EM, turbo with billet compressor wheel, silicone turbo hoses and water hoses, and some small stuff
old IM off, water manifold cleaned and re-sealed (was leaking; had to use liquid sealant due to NLA)
prep the new IM with the injectors and throttle body
removed the aux rad
EM and turbo gone.... (went surprisingly smooth, no bolts broke)
new EM and turbo in place. cw and oil connections to the turbo were a proper pain in the *** to put back
new IM, throttle cable, and wires in place
IC in place
flushing the coolant circuit with some help...
bonnet mod for the throttle cam...
and done.....
new logo
and top it off with some carbon eye candy

a few years before the above, I installed a supersprint downpipe and exhaust (upto rear axle, rear muffler left original, centre muffler deleted) and replaced the kats with a small race kat
the parts:

hook-up at the turbo & wg. a very good fit. and as a bonus: all 4 the turbo bolts can now be removed using normal tools
