I saw you on MG the other day Mark. BTW the S2 bumper will have a new home again...on this monster!
Always enjoying seeing these e/s2 projects. Keep up the good work.
What was your flywheel solution?
With no battery that strut brace is pointless. It may actually interfer with the ISV, but that might not be there with the 034efi anyway. I need to get the B4 brace.
I'm using the cq flywheel that has been lightened and balanced with the cq pp and clutch.
Nice work Darin. Looking forward to hearing about how the stand alone fueling works out. What are the benefits of the 034efi over the stock motronic management? Keep up the good work! One of these days/years all of us e//S2 guys will have to get together at some central North American location to share our stories in person!
P.S. - love the intercooler...

I've painted the crossmember black and it all fits nicely.
The benefits are many of going to stand alone. I'll never have to buy a chip and can tune the engine to match any and all upgrades to the IC, turbo, manifold, etc etc. Turn up the boost, and retune to reach the desired hp levels and performance that I want. I spent the money now for when I decide to do the big mods later. Only drawback is that it won't be "stock". Remember, I'm not running with AC either.....
good work.....nice to see you and ellijah are so close to completion. ellijah a bit more from the threads i read. what is (javahad?) up too with the knock sensor or is there someone else that has come up with an idea? maybe oneday we could all get our es2's together and do a u.s. photoshoot and show a.o.a. that there really was a demand for these stateside
you can use a Saab APC knock box. It works. You can setup as just a knock light. You can set it up to retard boost too.
There are certainly are options with knock issuses. 034efi does not have knock sensor setup because there is a very fine line of what is knock and what is not knock. One could be retarding timing based on lifter noise etc.
You could spend thousands of hours trying to dyno in a knock setup.
Solution:
use good gas 93+
Get a saab knock box
Be intelligent.
I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got quattro?

Could you please be more specific what is that SAAB APC knock box (URL,pix, text ). I'm searching for some knock indicator solution. Maybe this box is just what I need.

I'm not sure if I can say I'm close yet. The wiring has to be done and then finish putting things back together and gathering a few other parts. I'm hoping for an early summer completion so I can drive on the new track here in Salt Lake City. Got pics of your car?

there's a ton of information online:
search google.com or dogpile.com for Saab APC knock box
I'll look around for a link.
