  • Power Steering pump for B4 V6 quattro rebuild kit

    Hi all
Power steering pump 8G0145165 for RHD B4 80 V6 quattro does not appear to be available anymore. Audi either can't or won't tell me the part numbers for the re-build kit, so does any know what I need. Probably a shaft seal and a gasket set.

Or has anyone had a good experience with the cheap Chinese ones available?

    Thanks in advance.

I may have a good spare pump from either a C4 2.6V6 FWD or one from a 2.8 V6 30 valve C4 quattro saloon. Those being the last two cars I've broken, is it for a 2.6 or 2.8 engine?

It's a 2.6, but it Seems to have a pretty specific pump that sits in the 'v' at the top front of the engine. Not the one that hangs on the side, which is still available new.

The one's I've removed have all come from in the V driven by the serpentine belt and look like the one pictured, will have a look what's in my stash of parts tomorrow and cross reference part No's if I find anything.

Edit.... A good hydraulic specialist may be able to rebuild it with their supply of seals and high pressure O-ring's, just a thought after all it's a pretty simple pump. I don't know anything about the Chinese copy's but as a rule that sort of stuff is best avoided.

          Thanks.
That's not a bad shout on the hydraulics specialist. They're probably used to doing large plant work, so this would be a doddle for them.

No joy in my part's stash, only got one and that's a spare for my C4's 2.8 AAH engine.

But who want's to fit buy a 30 year old second hand pump... Alex (Error404 on here) could probably rebuild it for you or at least supply the part's. Otherwise I reckon any half decent hydraulic specialist could do it, as you rightly say they're use to working on all sort's of heavy stuff so doing a small twin piston pump on the bench should be a doddle.
