The letter from Audi shown in the photos has a VIN of WAUZZZ8BZTA002838 in the text and 2834 in the subject.......

it is said that the last 2 of the kind ware produced on the 29 december. the last one sold to the customer is the dutch one and the last one was given to the audi tradition museum

My German neighbour has confirmed that these were the last two 5-cylinder engine models made. 002834 went to a customer and 002838 to the Museum.
I'd presume the intervening numbers went to "lesser" variants.

So this is the last S2 made for sale to a customer, there was one more which Audi have in their museum.

To confirm (a little bit) the VIN stuff, the last coupe bodied car was TA 003000 according to ETKA, built in Dec. 1995 as a 1996 model year car.

The last ABY engine was built in September 1995 as ABY004891.

My S2 was registered March 1996 and its number is 002680

The last coupe (S2 or coupe) built in Nov. 1995 was 002567 so 2680 was built in early(ish) Dec. 1995, the last month of their build.

Where does mine stand then with an engine number of ABY005000? Chassis ends in 002812.
