  • Is it rude to knock

    Took the dog out for a stroll on Monday and literally a stones throw from my house down a side road saw the back of a green Audi on a driveway that looks like it's not moved for a while and noticed a sport badge on the back it s a N reg s6 now do I knock on the door and ask if it's for sell or is that rude nowadays ?

      Well if you don't ask you don't get. I don't see why someone would take offence, worst they can say is no, if anything you are complimenting there taste in cars.

        Don't compliment their taste in cars too much - it will make the value go up. ​​​​​​

        I say its got to be worth a go, you don't know the circumstances and it may be up for sale and missing the motivation to actually do it, a knock on the door could be just what the owner is looking for. Go find out!

            Well the man with the black e30 m3 with the hedge growing through it in the village shouted at me to get off his property as he knows how much it's worth lol and it's still there 3 years later .

                I don't think it's rude if you just ask and aren't pushy. I'd probably pop a note through the door or under the cars wiper with my contact details so they could reach me if interested in parting with it. Had a couple of those on my old S2 and took it as a compliment

                  Write a polite note asking if it's possibly for sale.
                  I've ended up with many cars that way.
                  one coupe got I must have left two dozen notes on before I got it.
