its not the new engine (tho that would be cool one day)
It's acctually a stroked 10valve KV engine, with chrome molly crank, forged pistons, con rods etc. and a big valved gas flowed head..

2.5L GTi engineering RE2500 190hp.180lb Schrick 272 cam C A C 2.5" T304 Exhaust ITG filter
A standard GTi engineering 2.5 produced 170bhp and 180lb/ft. But they retained the standard cam. Changing to a Shrick 272 can get you to 190bhp though torque pushed up the rev range a bit it works better than on the 2.2. Great conversion and wished I'd had the funds to get one in my old GT back in 1985
