I also tought of that.Maybe something else is to know.
But the v8 is a blasphemy over I5.It is not Nascar.Also this becomes ugly to use your 30 years old technology succes to promote your new xhit.And do this over and over again.It is like grandmother staying on facebook with pictures from her good ages.
Also torsen was not invended by them.
I love old audis but nowadays they(as a company)are embarrassing.

Quattro's were banned from some race series in the USA IIRC.

It seems AWD (I assume not just Quattro) was banned at one time from DTM, BTCC, Trans-Am, IMSA, FIA, ? I cannot seem to find a complete list with timeframes.

its not the first time rulebooks have been changed to outlaw 1 type of car,

BTCC changed the rules to outlaw the Sierra RS Cosworth forever
they then changed the rules in Australia, Malaysia and somewhere else i cant remember, purely to outlaw the RS500`s.......

The same thing happened when Audi ran the A4 Quattro in BTCC several years later.......... bye bye Quattro
