Wanted...Orig S2 Radio

Hey guru's,

I am after an original S2 (late ABY) Audi factory fitted head unit or any info on what this should be.

I assume that it was probably from the Gamma family, but do not actually know what it should be, since my last 2 Audis have had Pioneer heads and 6CD boot changers.

Any help or info greatly appreciated (and repaid in beer if we ever get to the same Audi meet)

Hi Si,

I've got one for you. Audi Gamma.
When I bought the car from it's original owner, it still had the original radio.

It's a radio cassette deck manufactured in Germany by Panasonic. Model # 4AO 035 186 serial # 057014.

It will make the autocheck "display" function by saying if you're using the tape deck ( as if you couldn't hear that it's a cassette ) or by displaying with radio frequency you're tuned into.

Ahh, now I'm torn....

I want an original fitment radio which I suspect, even for a late model S2, would have been a cassette not a CD. However, I might have to get both.

Hi guys
For some time I was after for one to. I have an RS2 from Jan 1995 and I think the radio was the same.
If/when HPmuirt got one, and if there is some other radio spare let me know.

by the way, does that radios had already RDS?

Yeah, radio already had RDS, but it's the very basic RDS.

any idea if has any aux input, ex for external cd unit. if so, that could be probably adapted an Ipod or so...

Just had a look at it and, nope, no AUX feed to it I'm afraid.

It's a bit primitive you know... Twice the weight of a modern head unit so I would say that it's certainly a very durable radio/cassette but that's about it.

I think Audi used Sony radio/cassettes in UK S2's, well thats what was in mine.
