    Wanted - Rs2

    Hello readers,

having lost my RS2 virginity on the weekend, driving one at least, i'm looking for a good clean example in Ragussa Green!

Must have FSH, with bills/receipts to support. Preferably standard, but would consider a sensible modded example.

If anyone knows of one, please PM me!

    Thanks

Shirish, Take it you were suitably impressed
The Ragussa is nice.keeps the car looking understated with a touch of class. When you catch it in the right sunlight you can see the metallic pearl in it

However, we all know blue ones are faster

      Hello chap

to say i was impressed would be an understatement! What threw me completely is that you just don't feel the weight of the car - in terms of acceleration and cornering (way flatter than I imagined BTW) at least; you feel it somewhat in braking, even with Big Reds.

      And once on boost........oh mummy!

      Gets my 'Freetime' thumbs-up

Your going to need alot of patience coz according to Audi UK their is
only about 90-ish RHD left including their own cars. I presume you
        want a RHD.
Left hookers are alot easier to come by ahd have climate control as
        Standard.

I think the gap is closing between LHD & RHD cars, buyers are looking at condition & history first. It was certainly the case when i bought mine, having seen some less than perfect examples. Lots of RS2's seem to have a patchy or "interesting" history (i.e all the docs & service details awol).
Don't discount LHD, it's very easy to get used to.

To me the two main concerns when i was looking for one as i live in the city
was firstly Insurance and secondly Overtaking/ blind spots.

from what i've read and from speaking to owners with LHD, the only major blindspot can be looking right at junctions if there's someone in the passenger seat. However, one could either just ask the passenger, or just floor it

overtaking - next time you're a passenger in a RHD car, see how many different/new opportunities become visible to you from the left (i.e. the passenger seat) - i did a few days ago and it was an education. The only real problems are when you have somethign massiv in front of you like a lorry. However, you either wait for someone else to pass it, or a left hand bend ( you can see down inside much better than in RHD car), or just hang back a bit and take advantage of boost spool time to time your run!

i reckon car parks and toll booths would be a bind though.

                just my 2p.....

As long as you have the power, overtaking is no problem at all, you just need to hang back a little. Hey, even my wife got used to it in the RS2 and our old E30 M3!

It just depends weather you can get on with LHD, a mate of mine will not have a LHD car at any price (this was in the case of porkers, two identical cars one RHD, one LHD. the LHD was £10k cheaper, but he just was not happy with the idea of a LHD car).

Toll boths /car parks can be a pain if you're alone in the car, but we only have one here in Guernsey, so no problem.

LHD also gets you full auto climate control, dual airbags, & remote locking as standard (i think the remote locking was an option on RHD cars?).

As there are only ment to be 100 or so RHD left in the UK, you may have your work cut out looking for a specific colour & spec that also ticks all the boxes with condition & history. Buy on condition first, then worry about which side the steering wheel is on.

not driven LHD in UK, but have driven RHD on continent a lot - and SOMETIMES being "near the hedge" can actually HELP on country roads - you really can get on the edge of the road. This has been particularly useful a couple of times in the italian dolomites when road falls away on the edge and you can put your wheels right to the edge with confidence.

That said, i'm not sure left hand corners would be much fun in a LHD on a hedged road - no warning of oncoming traffic at all!

On the weight of it, at the moment i agree with Darren - i am trying to find one with all the boxes ticked but without being overly concerned about location of steering wheel. However, from what i've seen over the last year, the values of the LHD cars seem to fluctuate wildly.

i mean overtaking a lorry or something big on countryside as you can't see oncoming traffic unless you back off or pull out a little .

yeah, i reckon it could be a bit of a nuisance..... but you can see down a right hand bend MUCH earlier and further in a LHD, and so long as there's not a hedge in the way you can get a better view down the inside on a left hander as well. its swings and roundabouts - i suspect you've just got to adjust your driving style a bit.

If i end up with a left hooker, that's what i'm hoping anyway!!

at first its difficult to go through small gaps where normally you fly through in rhd but after a while it gets better . it dosen't help when you drive a right hand car every day and lhd only every now and then .

yeah I bet! I've only ever driven LHD in Canada - on an automatic. It'll be interesting to see how many times i smack my hand into the door reaching for the gear stick
