    MAF Gauze

Since many people seem to be removing the downstream gauze from their MAFs, I was wondering if anyone had one spare seeing as mine doesn't have any at all.

    Securing clip needed too.

Don't suppose anyone knows if they're a standard size I could whip one off another VAG car down at the breakers..... ?

    cheers,

Why are people removing them? Surely it's there to stop crap going down the intake?

The first one may stop things but wouldn't stop the maf wire if it broke off?

You're saying the RS2 MAF is identical, other than it doesn't have a second mesh?

My downstream mesh looked like it was about to be sucked in, so I removed it.

My downstream mesh also looked like it had melted and was about to totally disintegrate - I removed it. Car runs fine without it

Answer is NO. Audi S2 MAF is quite large, and most of meshes from another cars won't fit. However you can try ones from older VR6. It may fit.

Better solution is to use proper air filter, and keep in mind that your MAF has no meshes, so take apropriate care with that when servicing that area in your car. And that's it.

Yes, its restrictive, but transform the turbulent air flow in "laminar" air flow, for better measure. Removing this thing reduce the life of the MAF, the damn instrument its very delicated........
