    ABY Block and Crank

Im looking for a block and crank if possible, im wanting to rebuild my bottom end but as i use my car daily its a bit difficult, so i'd like to get these 2 parts and build the engine up on these as once the bottom is done the top can be swapped over or it taken off the road for a short time, but gives me the time to source flywheel, rods etc and have it all balanced etc etc and gives me the time to take my time with assembly.

Ive not done the bottom end before so its something new i'd like to take my time over.

If anyone has one or knows where one might be for a reasonable price as i dont wanna go overboard, or even someone that has one just sitting around i could take from you and you take mine back once its been built or something?

if the cost is quite high then i'll just opt for taking it off the road to do it but i dont know what these items would be worth.

Cheaper to buy a second car as a runabout. Polo / Golf 1,043 - 1,272cc. S2's are not meant to be only cars, with a cheap runabout, there's no rush to complete work or upgrades.

A Polo or Golf as listed above will cost approx. £150 - £350 depending on age and condition.

Yeh thats what i used to do, trouble being i had a run in with the law just over a year ago and now insurance is stupidly expensive, even with 7yrs NCB and being 25yrs old..... I paid 1100 this year on the S2, compared to my pre-conviction quote of £350!

Maybe i should look at taking it off the road to do the work and running something else as an alternative for now instead of trying to run 2... just i know that if i do it that way its bound to come off the road, bits get lost and it take a lot longer to do, knowing what my mates and me are like.
