it makes a horrible whiney noise and has no coolant in the system. the fault may have been caused by the gas leaking out over time. im just trying to eliminate possible issues.Tim

see if the faq here helps....might not be the compressor - just managed to get mine working again today with just a re-gas apparently the compressor wont function if theres not enough gas in the system - might be worth getting someone to look at it and do a leak test first?

Tim, I will have a fully working one available soon. I have not taken mine out yet as i haven't found a normal coupe/80 airbox duct to replace the aircon one.
(I have not been looking hard though )

Remember that the drain quoted for AC is when trying to cool down a hot car. Once cool, it takes much less energy to keep the car cool. So it is only more efficient to run with your windows open if you jump in a hot car, drive 1/2 mile, then park for an hour in the sun and repeat.
