  • 17inch S2-style Avus wheels

Considering a brake upgrade and although I've got the big black 996 4pot calipers and know that with 314mm disks they'll fit, I didn't like hearing how they were scoring the inside of the wheels on some cars! I'm thinking of refurbishing my 16inch wheels (although they are in good condition at the moment) and they have 500mile worn P6000's. Basically If anyone was wanting to go back to stock from 17inchers... then I'm your man!

      avus wheels

I have recently fitted 996 brakes to my avant, mounted with seat brackets, modified to suit the 314mm a8 disks, with the dimensions given by BRY on here, and can report that there is sufficient clearance for the calipers with the standard avus 16" wheels.
This is even with stick on balance weights on the inside of the rims as well.
It all looks a bit tight, but there is enough room.

Could do with more clearance for cooling purposes though...

You must still have a slight pad over hang then?

The RS2 bracket works perfectly on the 323 disc, so for it to work and give good pad placement on the 314 disc you would need to remove 5.5mm from the RS2 bracket, which I don't reccommend anyone to do as the thinkness would be less than ideal and would reduce the strength of the bracket. IME.
The SEAT bracket (once modified) is perfect for the job on 16" wheels.

                        Cool

Would you know the part number? There are a view different sizes to the S8 range. 323, 321, 345, 360 etc.
