Just driving towards work, seen a car ahead and was slowing down to about 55/60 mph from about 70 and it seemed to misfire/hesitate. So i dipped the clutch and it over-revved and subsequently went pop! And just to comfirm it i looked behind to see a few bits of my engine block followed by a blue cloud of smoke...

An ex friend of mine had an S2 a few years ago and Audi refunded him his expenses because of an accident he had and it was a serious electrical fault. The car had been in for some work and when he got it back it all went wrong. On his way home from the garage the car just seemed odd right until he was sat at the front of a cross roads as he pulled away the car just went mental and took of down the road at full revs causing him to loose it and crash into another car and ending up in a field with this car (the audi just shoved the other car through the hedge with itself). He called the police and also called audi who collected the car and discovered that a servicing "link" had not been removed and the electrics fried.
Audi admitted liability and payed for the crash and all the damage.
                Scary Sh*t or what.

I had something similar (apart from the crash) in an old Astra turbo deisel. It stuck on full throttle and all I could do was knock it out of gear and watch it rev itself to death! I was lucky in that it happened at slow speed and also a 1.7 turbo deisel doesn't pick up speed the way an S2 on full throttle does. Turned out to be a faulty turbo ( so they told me). I got it back and within a week I holed the sump and it ground to a halt again.

                  All good fun.
