s2 dash panel

a couple of days ago my speedo started 2 drop off which can be really annoying

it comes back if i hit the dash so really need a new dash

priced up a new speedo at audi dont really wanna spend 200 on 1 dial

does ne1 have a s2 dash panel with a sensible milage mine is at 135000

are you sure thats the problem?it may well be your speed sensor.Vagcom it if you can it should show up if there is a problem,i think martinjs's car did the same thing(80 tdi)

i thought it might be the sensor but when i hit the dash it works again

Take it out and dismantle the dash pod, then put it back together. and replace.
I can't explain it - it just works, there are a few connecions and if you pull all the plugs and then re-fit them it re-makes the connections.

ok try that mate wots it like 2 get the dash out

steering wheel off then the cowling just two pozi drive screws unplug the cluster away you go 10 mins max

It's easy. It takes about 5 minutes to get the instrument cluster out.

And don't take the steering wheel off. Unless you want to just for fun.

depends if its 3 or 4 spoke and also if youve got the tilt option

I thought 4 spokes and tilt option were only for the pipe and slippers brigade.

yeah im a coupe boy got a three spoke with airbag no tilt

Even with the nasty four spoke airbag affair in my TDi you can still get it out without taking the wheel off. It's just a bit more fiddly.

That’s the pins on the back of the speedo need cleaning, don’t waste your money on buying a new one. Just take it off and clean all the contacts with alcohol or something similar.
