    Woodruff key

    Hi, can anyone help.
I have ordered woodruff key from Audi, pack of 5 has arrived but the key is wrong.
Can anyone direct me to the right part, alternatively has someone got measurements.
    Regards
    Rob

My camshaft wheel has modified washer/woodruff key and I want to go back to original. Is there separate woodruff key to go there or is the wheel comes with built in key. Engine is ABY.

        Ah...
There is no woodruff key on ABY as the stock pulley has the integral key. Unfortunately that is a known weak point!
Guess you got some 7A keys.

The key is machined into the sprocket. You can get a new one from Audi Tradition for 60 euro. The bolt and washer is still available from TPS.

My wheel was modified to take separate key. So I was not sure if original one had the key built in. Thanks for your help. I will get new one ordered.

Perhaps that was because it suffered a failure before.
Guess if you made a key and either file or machine a slot in the pulley that would work. Not sure whether thats whats been done.
Another way is to dowel the pulley and camshaft.

I like the design of the mod been done. There is slot cut out in the wheel and then the woodruff key is integrated with the washer. Only problem with it is little bit wobbly.

Sounds like a bit of a get me out of trouble modification! Saved the cost of a replacement pulley or removing the camshaft to dowel it.
Still if you have time to take a pic it might help somebody else out if they get stuck!
