Don't go with the short shift, get another stock shifter instead. The shortshifter destroys the synchros on the 6-speed tranny with the S2 / rs2 shifter type. I destroyed a 80000km tranny in just a few weeks time, It SUCKS!

I took the short shift kit of mine too as it was a nightmare. Replaced it with a brand new stock shifter and the gearchange is much better.

The shortshifter works a treat on my TDi though. I think it is only really useful on the five speed boxes.

It works OK with a S4 BT linkage. It's the S2 / Rs2 linkage that makes the Shortshift suck. The motion gets to hard and you force the gears into each other, not good at all.

What is the exact problem Dan ? Too slow (they all are new and old) difficult to select (try change gearbox oil) etc

A bit clunky between gears sometimes, mainly first and second, but I suspect this is how they are??? I haven't had a car other than new for some years now perhaps expect a little more from the gears than I should? Plus thought the short shift might make it drive better?

hi Dan, considering the milage on your RS2 syncro's shouldnt be a problem but as stated above it would be a good idea if you change the gearbox oil!

Thats 'normal' Dan. My previous S2 same from 18 months old. Gets better with age. Worth getting the gearbox oil changed at some stage. Millers make a good gearbox oil. Anyway on an RS2 you should be out of first and into second without any delay as the change is worse if you give it beans in first.
