Stupid question - this RS2 airbox item is much sought after and costs a lot of money. Could a replica part be fabricated for reasonable money. Plastic is the problem due to costs of creating a mould etc - I'm no materials expert by any stretch. One made from carbin fibre would be lovely but prolly more expensive. What about fiberglass / GRP ?
Just an open question really... If they could be made and sold for say £150 and are a direct replacement for RS2 item then it would be great. Where's the fabrication experts ?
I agree even though £249 is a great price i reckon someone could run a batch of these, and a lot of people on the forum would buy them if they were around the £150 mark
but tooling and everything else i imagine would spiral the costs but it would be cool to find out
I used to do injection moulding and the price for a tool this size would be expensive then the machine to use it would have to be around the 500ton mark.
Would it be possible to do blast moulding of one of these? would possibly be easier and cheaper as long as someone could make a wooden mould of the inside of the box as a template so that it could be moulded over the top of it etc. Probably work out a cheaper/easier option just finding someone/where that would do it.
