Wanted - K&N panel airfilter for ABY

Yes I have a panel filter from k&n and its sitting in my tool box just now. Can`t say that when its fitted it makes it sound any better.

I got the impression from a different thread that they add a fair bit of induction noise when fitted. I understand that they dont add any noticeable performance, but was hopeful of some extra performance sounds !

Have many people got them fitted ? Notice more of an engine roar ?

Panel filters may increase the induction noise, but not by much-
A cone filter certainly will, but then you need to rig up a good cold air feed unless you want to lose power due to the underbonnet heat

Didnt fancy the hassle of a cone if possible. Also is it much hassle to clean a panel filter ?

I've got one fitted. I just blow it out with the air line now and agine.

Not a fan of oiling the filter what with MAF contamination and all but I supose the k&N cleaning/oiling kit is the politicaly correct way.

Was on when I brought the car so can't commment on noise.

Main problem i have is cars come in with people putting WAY too much oil on the filter-done properly there is no prob with the MAF

I have since re-fitted the filter and it does make a little bit more induction noise with a nice back chat off the dump valve coming thru

The filter arrived today - so many thanks Peter. It made it just before the postal strike, which was a bit of luck.

Should be able to fit it at the weekend, and unleash the volume.
