Aye i'd tend to prefer the one that attaches to the wishbones too. A trailer would be fine but there's a lot of added weight and even if you rent one it's not worth it if you're nipping 30 miles up the road to get a £200 car to play with/pull parts off.
Didn't realise the A frame needs certification. If I get the money together to buy a certified one I'd be even happier knowing the thing has been built to good specs.

I cant guarentee that it NEEDS certified, but our one is and we think the are supposed to be. better safe than sorry

It is the kind of think a few people in your area could share the cost of...

if there's an option to get a certified one i'd prefer to take it.
I'll keep a lookout and see what's out there. Maybe santa will be good to me and bring one. Or maybe santa will take my wife and son to her mum's and i'll be left eating pot noodles in my latest audi.

          A few things to remember:

          1. Turn off the stearing lock.

          2. 4wd cars can't be towed with one (or is that just specs?).

          3. A light board is needed.

          4. I think the car has to be roadworthy (MOT?) to be towed with an A-frame.

A mate and a tow rope is a better option over short distances.

A trailer or paying someone with a flat bed is a better option.

Ever thought about buying the car, joining a breakdown service and have them come and tow you home, FOR FREE!

Pay a recovery company c.£60 for a flat bed tow.

I think i'll manage to take the steering lock off. and remember to breathe
I thought a 4wd couldn't be towed up on the rear wheels but could be towed flat on all 4. Am I wrong then?
Trailer/flatebed/paying to have it brought on a flatbed.. all good options but depends on how mauch the car is worth/how far you need to pay for it to be brought/if it's a random purchase and you just want to take it home after looking at it and paying for it. This is how i've survived until now but the A frame would be handy on occassion

4x4 is ok on a frame, not on a spec. ie all wheels on ground is ok, front, or rear lifted, nono!

a frame much safer thhan mate and rope

lightboard not needed if the car has a towbar, all you need is a trailer light plug to trailer light plug cable to link the two cars

a car on an aframe is considered a trailer, so no mot required, or tax, but needs to be roadworthy like a trailer

a frame much safer thhan mate and rope - I meant it would just be a more convenient way if the car was down the road.

lightboard not needed if the car has a towbar, all you need is a trailer light plug to trailer light plug cable to link the two cars - I stand corrected.

You can in an emergency, cant remember the specs but only for a short distance at low speed. Thats only applies if one axle is on the ground, if all four wheels are on the ground you can tow it all you like.

towing a 4x4 with one axle in the air is possible yes, the same as it is possible to spin one wheel on a 2wd car doing a burnout, the plannet wheels dont last too long in the diffs tho oops lol

Animal lover, wasnt having a go btw, not sure if it looked that way? A trailer board is required yes, just giving an alternative to this as strapping a board to a nice shiny car may not be a nice plan We have a male to male cable as mentioned above, and a board with a female socket if the towed car has no towbar...

The mate with a rope thing is way more convienient especially if it is wet, but have you tried to stop an s2 without the power brakes??!!
