I just changed mine - NOT at all expensive from VAGparts. Sub 20 quid each side from memory, but if they are corroded then its most likely water getting past the mastic seals... You need to change that gooey stuff. Search for a how-to guide on rear clusters for part numbers and useful tips. I need to put my own write up on S2central one day.
I had half a cup of water inside my drivers side rear cluster !
Well I did get the rear clusters sealed a short while back but the boards were slightly corroded and definaltly needed changing. Unfortunately after the car was resprayed I don't think they were sealed up properly but its not too much effort so I will have another go at it when I source the new boards.
