  • Avant/Saloon driver's side door latch

My driver's door appears to have developed an issue with keeping itself closed. I think the problem is with the latch which appears to work properly when it is moved manually but I have ended up having to gaffer tape the door shut to get home last night!

Does anyone have one knocking around or have any ideas on where to get one hopefully in good working order?

    Thanks

I'm sure I've had this and it's a spring that's broken inside the latch mechanism... I fixed mine with a spring of suitable tension and it's been fine for years.

If you remove the latch mechanism you will easily see what's wrong and IIRC you don't have to remove the doorcard either.

That sounds about right, as it appears to be the latch that moves when the door handle is pulled not returning quite correctly. Where would I obtain such a spring?

And I have several coupe doors I could get a latch off of for you if that's any good.

Indeed, it is a different part. Checked with Audi this morning, a new one is £35 + the dreaded retail.

              PM sent Nuvo!

                  Ben,
I've got one you have for a tenner.
You'll have to come over and remove it though.
Give me a call if you've still got my number.
