thanks for getting back to me. luck seems to be in very short supply at present. my project? well i'm intending to and in the process of building 1/43 slot cars and race tracks. one of the tracks will be based on the Loheac rallycross track in France. one of the cars i would love to do is that of Tommy Kristoferson who raced an S2 turbo with 4wd

the problem may also be the title of your thread. someone who can help may not have rad it because the title was a bit generic. Try editing your post and put what you need specifically in the title.

Good luck with your search, i have changed the title to make it a little more specfic. I hope that helps.

              Cheers,

I assume that this is to use to make a cast as a mould or will you simply layer GRP over it? Either way I see 3 issues: -

                1. Very few new shape Audi Coupe models were made in 1/43 scale. Of those that were I have not seen any S2 models - they tend to be a smaller scale for some reason I have a 1/43 scale Audi Coupe (non S2) model by Schabak so try Googling for schabak.

                2. Since you will end up with a non S2, you will need to re-model the front end to give the S2 bumber as this looks very different - Although this is not a biggie. How good are you with plasticine or Bluetack?

                3. Most of the 1/43 models have the front windows in the down position, making it impossible to remove from a cast/mould. However I guess you could cover it in cling film first.

                Cheers n

                Si

P.S. If you cannot find a Schabak, I might be persuaded to lend you mine if you were planning on using a non-damaging mould/cast technique (i.e. cover the whole thing in cling film AND you made me a body whilst doing yours

thanks for all the help/advice gents. thanks for the post edit. i have been keeping an eye on ebay and other diecast sites to see what is about. the car i am hoping to do was used in and around 93/94 so i believe it is of the first generation

the problem with the windows shouldnt be a big one as i have the intention of using tape from the inside backed up with plasticine or blutack. the altering of the bodyshell shouldnt cause to many problems either. i just have to get used to a smaller car as most of my car modelling has been in 1/32 scale. i'm only dropping to 1/43 due to the number of cars about. bearing in mind that if all goes well i should have between 30 and 40 different shells. i'm not just going to be doing rallycross but also stuff from the UK short circuit scene

                            Hi Rich,

How will the heavy metal cars handle?

Any pics of the tracks and cars you are building or of previous lay outs you have done?

Hi hibby. looking at the slotforum.com, many of the guys on there say that to make diecast cars work rrequires a fair bit of modifying (changing motors and the like). i'm going to be doing my own shells once i get my vac former sorted out. there is a fair bit of altering and widening to the arches to make most of them look right.
unfortunately i dont have any pics of cars or layouts anymore. lost when my pc had a severe melt down. i do intend to post pics of the new layouts when i start building them, which all being well will be in the next 3-4 weeks. my little girl is getting as impatient as me - 'daddy can we go on the race track please' ha ha ha
