    Torx bolt for airbag

Does anyone have a spare lying around ?

I'm after one torx bolt that holds in the airbag to the standard 'grandad' 4 spoke wheel

Probably pennies from audi but i'm wondering if anyone on here has one first

    Cheers

i have always used an equivalent allen key and never had issues unlocking the bolts or damaging the torx

I think it is the bolt itself he is after...

I may do as I have a wheel at home (3 spoke one though). Problem is I am at work for another week.

If I can work out how to get the damaged one off mine, you are welcome to have the other good one once its removed!

Cheers chaps, i think someone previous to me has done this to the bolt.
I've had my S2 4 wheel aligned which has put the steering wheel out slightly (when driving straight)
Went to remove steering wheel and found one bolt is rounded off.

Dest - When i get another bolt i'm going to drill the head off the knackered bolt and see if that releases the airbag, its a T25 torx bit you'll need for the bolts btw

Ive got one of mine undone no problem, the other is rounded off same as yours!
How are you planning on drilling it out?
Its not the best place to access from behind is it lol

Ive got a non airbag 3 spoke wheel to replace the original 4 spoke grandad one, so I can butcher it if needed

The folk doing your alignment should have adjusted your tracking to align the wheel, I very much doubt you will manage to align the wheel by removing it....

Why not? Thats the easiest way lol
Remove the wheel, straighten it up and do the bolt up again

Its the wrong way!!! the folk doing the alignment should have done it with the adjustments of the track rods. And also because the steering wheel has only a set number of positions (on splines) whereas the adjustment of the track rods is virtually infinite. If I had paid for four wheel alignment and the steering wheel was not straight I would take it straight back!

I agree, but for a quick fix its worth a go moving the wheel Id of thought

If doing the wheel alignment yourself then yeah i guess it saves some work, I do my alignment myself and I always do it with the track rods. Like I say if someone pays for alignment that thats what they should get, it is called wheel alignment, the steering wheel is one of those wheels. If a workshop is prepared to put out a job half done I wouldn't be going back! Maybe I am being unreasonable expecting 100% from a job? But it really ******** me off when larger workshops do half a job for a ridiculous labour rate while people like my dad (running a one man garage oerating on repeat custom and recommendations) always put in 100% and charge sod all!

End rant! wow - Nightshift must make me grumpy!
