    Last piece of the jigsaw...

I've been having a bit of a saga with my aircon system. It's been topped up and yet leaks out fairly quickly. I have now recently replaced the condenser/drier and 'that pipe' and had the system regassed yet again. Still no good! Air is not cold.

We have however, found the leak. The port on the compressor, (often thought of as the 'low side') is in a bad way, dye and gas has been leaking out from around it. It's corroded and needs replacing.

The compressor and clutch assembly itself is in full working order - I just need to find a new replacement port.....

Has anyone got one or can they point me toward where I may find one?

    Any help/suggestion most welcome

is that not held onto the compressor body by 4xsplined bolts? If so I guess you should be able to get a replecement from either another compressor or from denso/zexel (forget which the rs2 one is..) as a service item?

I believe the port I need looks similar to the high side recharge port near the aux rad.

It's essentially an (Aluminium?) screw in port with a central valve. It's used in the factory to check pressure in the air con system.

Having same probs with mine Lloyd.
Had it regassed after 2 years of not working. Guy put some dye in at same time.
Took about 3 days to go empty on me. Obviously not a big leak.
Checked that pipe under arch from dryer. All in very good condition.
Went searching and found some dye on pipe coming out of the top of compressor.
Don't know if all RS2's have heat shield bandage just above pipe but mine does, this was also covered in dye.
Taking car back to speicialist to show them what I've found. Hopefully that's the only leak.
                  Time will tell.
What I want to know is will I get charged again for another regas?

i thought i had a leak at some point, turned out that it was a bad regass. However i must change all aircon tubing at some point.i know you dont have to buy the original hoses but you can make them. That is what im planning to do...For now Air/con works.

Also dont forget to operate the Air/Con every once and a while,as it gets stuck and it is good for it to work.Even if it is cold.

When i went to have it regassed i had less oil put in than usual. This made the compressor make a whining noise when it was working, although it did bring lots of cold air in.At that moment i didnt know what the reason was for that and i was heading for a new compressor(which by the way,i bet any new A4 type compressors would do,cause they are practically the same).
Anyway before doing that i went to check for leaks and also went to a different shop for a regass. After that, the noise went away and i was still getting lost of cold air.so i was happy!

Yes, early A4 compressors would/could do but beware:

They will come with a multi-rib belt pulley so you'd have to change the pulley for the V belt one we need.

Some A4 compressors come with a speed sensor - no problem since we don't need to use it but it could foul the block/mounting for our cars - the sensor that is and you cant remove it as the compressor would have a huge hole in it the gas will come straight out of

                              Well seen aircon man today.
Found the leak. The dye was coming out of the pipe, where the big nut is located on top of compressor. So I need a new pipe.
Can any aircon guru's get me the part number for this pipe please.

                              Cheers.
