Avants -- Help on which year etc

So, after going to Al`s last night and talking Avant I pretty much reckon that I will be selling my S2, 3b to make way for an Avant as will be a better longer term project with space for the family moment ( no not a bit of back seat action but then you never know )

I am sure Avants have a particularly good year and would be great to know what is what please.



I have seen a Nothelle Avant advertised no bucks next to it, looks RS2 but is it? tell me if I am beeing a muppet b4 i call owner???

Look forward to some good reads about which avant is best etc..

There isn't a particularly 'good year' for the 80 Avant or its S2 variant. Some things I'm aware of as follows -

Very early (MY93) UK Avants do NOT have roof rails and came with the old 5-spoke alloys. They also had the non ellipsoidal lights and orange indis on the front bumper.

For MY94 the ellipsoidal lights come into play along with clear indis on the front bumper... And I think the ambient temp display as standard.

From middle of MY94 you get a better factory IMMO.

From MY95 the airbag option brings the damn fine 3-spoke sports style airbag wheel - versus the frankly ugly old 4-spoke version that preceded it.

If I was looking for one (and sometimes I get the urge as it is fundamentally a much more family friendly version of the mighty S2) I would be looking for a later one, but they aren't exactly numerous so don't be too picky on colour and option choices if you find a nice clean example... Most options can be retrofitted if there is something you must have.

There are some nice one's around depending on what colour spec you want, I personally if the funds was there now would look at the pirates one and then aim for something like what s2avants done with his

Looking like pirates may make a good project car... Any thoughts?
