    This is not meant to sound silly but the mirrors for left hand drive and right hand drive are different. They have different shapes to suit which side the steering wheel is on. This helps the view of the driver.

        Is the difference in the shell of the mirror or is it just that the glass differs between LHD and RHD versions?

            The shape of the glass is different on all the cars I've had in the last few years. They are concave on the passenger side and convex on the drivers side, this widens the field of vision and reduces the chance of a blind spot.

            A friend broke his mirror in France, bought a new mirror and it was awful. Came home and bought a RHD one.

            I can't remember if it was his RS2 or His wife's M3 convertible which the mirror was for.

                I had to reach for the dictionary then. I knew what Hyperbole was but I checked and found.

                Hyperbole = exaggeration
                hyperbolic = any of a group of functions of an angle expressed as a relationship between the distances of a point on a hyperbola to the origin and to the coordinate axes. ( in english = a mirror modified to have a different focal length) ( in Sun reader mode = the mirror is shaped to make things look bigger like Pamela Anderson's chest)

                Porsche mirror glass was about 60 euros I think.

                        RHD mirrors have different motor assembly mounts as well as different glasses. The passenger side mirror on a car always has more travel than the dirvers side (or vice versa, can't remember ) so the housing are slightly different inside to accomodate this.

                        With RHD mirrors on a LHD car (or vice versa, twice in one post ) you will find it difficult to adjust the mirror into a suitable place so you can see behind you.

                            The mirrors are crap anyway - they are too small, and take a bit of geting used to compared ot standard ones - but all that matters is that they look good
