If ever you live near a racquet manufacturer, they get loads of free "samples" of ready to press carbon fiber with resin from their suppliers... They usually get them for free and they're about the size that you're mentioning.

I used to go to the "Donnay" factory about 1.5 hours from where I live for free unlimited quantities of these samples

Advanced Composites Group, amongst others, do rolls at 1200mm (about 47", maybe 48") wide, that's a common size. But rolls are usually at least 25m long. I won't even guess at prices.

Thanks for the answers. But the width has to be about 150 cm, the length isnt important.

So cut a 150 length off a roll? If it's 2x2 twill it will be the same pattern in both directions.

I am going to mold the bonnet on the s2 coupe and that has a width of 140 cm and is even longer in length, so i cant cut of a 150 cm length. Because then it wont fit on the length.

Lol well you did say length is unimportant!

Overlap the plies. We had to make bonnet panels for Touareg rally raid cars and they dwarf an S2 bonnet!

(Unless you want it bling and want to leave it unpainted, something which really wouldn't interest me)

Give these guys a call, they don't advertise it on their site that big but may be able to source it.

Anyway good luck i'll be interested to see how it comes out after having some experience trying to make wheel rims from carbon (not for an S2) to know how hard it is to use (though that was prepreg).

Oh we got our carbon free as the wheel was a uni project, but it may be worth asking the supplier who we got it from if they have any cheap stuff near the sell by date (a bonnet is non structural after all).

RC Car chassis's. I would make them by copying the epoxy chassis of a customer and then selling them at races. Helped me fund my RC car addiction...:mischeif:

Of course, as soon as I got my drivers license, my addiction soon mutated and I gave up on making a chassis for my first 'real' car !
