Fraser, why do you want to make a second engine with that power? You want to keep a stock one just in case?Seems logical!
Check on the german ebay with the search audi rs2.You will get about 1000hits and there are 4-5 engines for sale at the moment, not all ADU,and i think one is with the gearbox as well, but its a bit expensive(like 4500euros =3000GBP or so). However you can get an engine for about 1000euros from there. Not bad!

I have met a chap who is very kindly asked me if i want my engine MTM'd! It will have a MTM Inlet Manifold, Larger Turbo (looking for ideas), MTM engine management, MTM cylinder head and the list go's on! I decided that my original engine that the RS2 came with from the factory should be best left alone as it is very quiet and pulls very strong as it is. I will 'baby' this engine in my living room while the MTM monster gives me a new lease of life in the RS2 for next summer.

        Looking for any comments chaps.

You're not the only one, although mine has done about 300miles now.
However, I would not recommend this turbo due to lag issues. The T61 I was using previously, pulled stronger higher up and was actually better lower down (see comparison graphs http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32368 )
Depending on how long you want to wait, Repo is highly recommending a Comp 355 turbo well capable of 500+bhp but with low down pull as well. I will be trying this turbo in New Year if you can wait that long to see results?
                Cheers

No im not rich, its a bit of who you know, not how thick ur wallet is! lol

I am in too much of an early stage to be buying a turbo right now to be honest, I need to source the right engine, was considering a later RS2 item as i want the Mk2 RS2 Gearbox. I will obviously sell the Porsche inlet manifold, RS2 Cylinder head, KKK RS2 Turbo, as the MTM items will replace these, and hopefully the funds generated by a bit of ebay giggery pokery on the removed Porsche bits will help me pay for the further parts I will require for the new turbo system.

I am going to be closley looking at the whole lag/power issues. I want an early boost and was hoping for a sub 4000 rpm pick up around 3500 if thats humanly possible. What have people come across with 500bhp RS2's and the lag?

the only turbo i have heard that is capable to reach 500+crank hp and pull from below 4000rpm are the ones that repo has mentioned. The GT3076R is a turbo that can also get there but barely, and believe me it is not ideal to want 500+ and getting 470 or 480hp in the end.
I suppose you need a good foundation o start with, and by that i mean rods, pistons, and boring of the motor, then cyl.head porting and perhaps switching to a single mass flywheel with an uprated clutch disc. Then you will have to balance all these items together with the crank and put them all together.
You will also need a tubular manifold,or Carstens EVO,but if it is more than 500hp im not sure if that is going to be restrictive for that number. Finally a definitelly 3inch turbo back exhaust and a good tune.

That last bit might be a bit of a headache,as you will either have to go on an aftermarket ECU or get some kind of bigger MAF and have Doug @ MRC do a generic tune for the whole thing.

Now that i think all that...im reluctant to go ahead myself...Id rather upgrade on stuff that will need service in the future rather than throw everything out again and go bigger!Thats why im replacing wheels and later building a coilover kit for my RS2 atm.Enginewise..it all seems powerfull enough!

There's only one problem here, the MTM conversion is not good value for money

Consider that their 380 bhp conversion costs ÂŁ5525

Yet you could get the same bhp on an RS2 for under ÂŁ1000 - Simply use a MRC high boost chip and a 3" exhaust.

My advice, save your money and plan a proper rebuild basics below:

92.8 stroker in the standard bottom end with Pauter rods 144mm custom pistons.

EM - Wagner or Repo exhaust manifold
IM - Wagner or Repo reverse manifold.

                      Head - mild porting

Turbo for 500 bhp GT3076r or Comp turbo equivalent.

                      044 fuel pump

Other things to put in but that would be the basis. See Faheemo's thread.

Just out of interest, I fitted some new Samco's and flushed out my water coolant system last week, replacing it with clean water & Audi G12 Coolant. I am not sure if I did not get all the air out or maybe I have a ikkle problem, but it seems i am using a lot of water lately.

If you are using lots of water on an RS2, does it mean your head gasket is on its way out? I may just have a leak on a pipe but im not so sure.

were you losing water before the replacement of the hoses? If not check for hose leaks on their connections.Otherwise,if oil is not contaminated with water,it might not be the head gasket.Leaks can come from water pump, sensors etc.

Sounds like you have an airlock in the heater system.

When you change the coolant before starting it up open the bleed valve on the rad and heater matrix hose, squeeze it quite a few times to manually get the air out.

Then start engine and let it get to running temp with heater on full, you want the fan to kick in a 2 times before you close the bleed screws and retop the coolant levels.

never understood why everyone says have the heater on full. The heater controls don't affect the flow of coolant to the matrix, just the flow of air over the matrix - all that does is mean it takes longer to warm up
