I might be getting my dirty paws on an 2001 A4 3.0 quattro but it needs new cats apparently. Can anyone advise me where to get replacements? Dealer wants about £2200. Not sure if that includes lambda sensor too. Engine light came on and stirling audi ran diagnostics. Print out apparently recommends new cats and lambda sensor(s?)

I would go for pattern parts. I cannot see the need for OEM cats.
When I changed them both on my 2.8 Coupe a few years ago the stealers wanted over £700 quid each and I paid £251 each from GSF (the cheapest at the time).

i have etka but im not sure if they write the dimentions of the tubing. In any case to use them you would most likely have to take them to an exhaust place to modify them so they can be mounted on the car.

aha. that shouldn't be a problem if they def fit.
Funny thing is the originals have only done 100k but audi told the guy the low mileage over the last couple of years might be responsible for their deterioration. I know that lambda sensors can get "housewife's lambda syndrome" or something silly like that but I know very little about cats

If the fault codes suggest fault O2/Lambda sensor change those first.
On those you may have 4 lambdas two before cat and two after. Change the faulty one/ones and then see if the fault codes re-appear.
i'll see what the sheet says because it was the dealer that did the diagnostics check. I'd be a lot happier replacing one or more lambda sensors instead of the whole shebang with cats.
europeanme, do you happen to have such a shiny new exhaust with cats included or was that just a suggestion to go the whole hog while i'm at it?

Thanks J dog. I'll have a lookie there if it comes to it.
Bry - Do you know if the S8 cats are the same diameter? If they are then I don't see why a decent exhaust place couldn't chop the old ones and put these in. OEM replacements seem to come with quite a length of pipe as far as I can see, rather than just the cats themselves.
Would you PM me with a price mate?
cheers
