    Turbo pipes

    Guys,

Turbo pipes needed for a 3B car. Exactly which pipes I do not yet know as the car is at the mics undergoing surgery, but he is gonna get back to me with part numbers. But if anyone has any laying around please let me know.

And the news coming back from the mic regarding other work which Ive only just recentely had done is not good. I just paid good money to my usual mechanic to have my hand brake done - but apparantly the work done was a cack handed job! Oh why oh why oh why is it sooooooooooooo hard to find a good, honest mechanic

    Thanks all

Alps - still got your car then? You've had about as much luck as I have had with mine. I suppose that'll teach me to leave well enough alone when it's running good!

I'd have thought the pipes you need are intercooler to inlet pipe and turbo to intercooler. A split in either will make your car run crap and lose boost - I know, I'm there right now!

The concetina hose from inlet to turbo is also a bit of a swine, as Tom will testify. Best to ring round scrappers I guess:

Hey Paul, how are you? Thanks for the links. I'm defo gonna get on the blower to them later today.

You're 101% right about my luck. I swear I'm jinxed - or something! When ever any one makes remarks on my car such as "wow, its running really well..." million pounds on the fact that within a week of those remarks it will eff up! I now have a sign up in the car which reads "PLEASE DO NOT COMPLIMENT THIS CAR IN WAY OR FORM. THANK YOU"!

I had it just perfect (or so I thought!) to put it up for grabs in the Autotrader, then this happens. I took it down to the autopool in Berks (recommended by our Martin F). They have since told me that other problems are that the handbrake has ceased up (which I only just had done less than 2 months ago!) And also, the rear brakes are bu**ered! (which were only done about a year ago!)

      Oh well, such is life!

Have you had your paintwork sorted yet? Or are you still fearful of washing it?

I'm now strongly considering part exchanging the beast if I cant sell it. But then what to exchange it for is the question?!?!?! Ford Fiesta! Citroen C3! Renault Megane! I can't drive any of these cars after having driven an S2! An S3 is well outta my capabilities right now as I have a massive court case to fight still! But then again, the amount of money I'm throwing away on the car right now maybe it won't be such a bad move to go for 1!

Well, I'm gonna make up my mind one way or the other by the time I get the beast back from Autopool - They do have Fontains smack bang next door to them, so maybe popping in there will make up my mind for me

Alps - don't waste time adjusting the handbrake unless the rear calipers are good. Seized rear calipers are common on these cars - many other VW/Audi also... Reckon on ~100 each side for freshly reco'd rear calipers. Euro Car Parts do them right and reasonable and can usually despatch from stock mighty quickly.

As for turbo hoses - sorry that uprated ones aren't there yet. Almost certainly - check the accordion hose first and the little straight section above that on the pressure pipe. These are worst hoses on 3B.

          Thanks Paul N.

The guys at Autopool think that they have sussed out the problem, but are a little wary test driving it as they say that the brakes are annihilated!

As for the uprated hoses Paul, no probs.

I think that I have now come to the end of my patience with the problems with the car and also with trying to sell it - so, I think I may just bite the bullet and PX it for something that does 0-60 in 2 months, and does a top speed of a granny in need of a zimmerframe!

Any suggestions anyone on a new car that is cheap, and fun (ish) to drive! Oh, and one that won't cause me problems!!!
